    Default 1.8 Altis Engine 2005-2010?

    PW Fellows!!!

I want to know about the engine of Toyota Altis 2005-06 Model. It has 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine. Similarly Altis 2009-10 has again the very same 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine.

So my question is that if both engines are same as (code indicates) then y older model works fine on cng and new model altis 1.8 is not recommended on cng (mostly by our PW fellows)

    Waiting....

I couldn't repair my breaks, so I made my horn louder...

the engines use different controls, the older one has a cable type throttle and an ECU that is fit behind the glove box, the newer one is more european spec with fly by wire setup.

The new engine comes onto cam a little quickly and variates the throttle blade too much to smooth out engine power and sound - the only CNG kit that will correctly work on it is the lambda one.

Xli and Altis both are dohc. Newer Altis had drive by wire and was de-tuned to 130 horses for fuel efficiency.. Not sure about the problems on cng

both engines are exactly the same. there is not a difference of a pin. exactly same engines. some guys here are saying that the new one has double overhead cam. but they dont know nothing. again both engines are exactly same. i also have an altis 2006 and its in zero meter condition right now. i did not buy the latest one as it had the same engine and i like the heavier drive of my 2006. i bought it zero meter and i love it. it has only 35000 km on it and i dont want to replace it. i am kind of technical in such stuff. i always read the specs of vehicles and check them out before buying them. so i dont know why people say that the old one can run of CNG but new one cant. i dont use CNG so i cant tell you that. but only thing i want to tell you is that both cars have the same engines. exactly the same.
