I a e60 530D BMW I had a couple of years, I was informed the gear box is sealed for life and fluid does not need to be changed for life!! how come hondas want to change it so often? A money making scheme or real need?
Follow the manual of your car if you do not have one, visit the nearest 3S and do what is needed if you want to keep your ride trouble free.

Transmission oil whether manual or auto has to changed at 40 K periodic maintenance. I used to change my Khyber's transmission oil and mistry logs would say just top up, but it is always better to change the fluid as it keeps the gearbox smooth and contributes to better fuel economy in the long run.

You are correct, You don't have to blindly follow , Just seeUer Manual and keep on maintenance it will be distributed and wont cost you much, following all the above blindly is totally insane

It's a tough car and can last without these maintenance for 100,00s of kms and most people in Pakistan do not go beyond "aile and filtoor".

    But

If you want to eliminate the chances of a sudden break down when you are in the middle of something and get maximum fuel economy and driving pleasure and save you from a bigger expenditure down the road, it's better to do all the regular maintenance tasks.

@qwertypoiu why are they charing for a new hub thats 14k if i remember correctly on its own, bearings should be available seperately and for me they only changed front bearings which ousted around 4k not the whole hub. and are you sure its rear bearings? put the car on the lift and put in drive and get it 80-100km/h with wheels off the ground if you dont hear a noise that means your rear bearings are bad, its rear for rear bearings to go bad this soon mostly its the fronts.

if the rear bearings have infact gone bad and they are only available as part of a new hub and not separately then you have no other choice. plus driving with bad bearings is dangerous and you should get this fixed soon.

if it makes you feel any better one hub with bearings for my w203 is 27k.
If everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane!

Front ones were changed when it was around 100k and I dont remember the cost. These are for the rear ones and they do not chnage the bearing but the complete hub and I did change them when I posted the quote.
