Question CNG for Toyota GLI 2011

    Dear Friends,

I have receently purchased a GLI 2011 and running on pertorl. I intend to use CNG as second option so I need some technical advises if anyone can help me on few things:

1-Is CNG recommended for GLI 2011?
2-If yes, after how much mileage it should be installed?
3-Whch CNG is better for this car?
    4-What cylinder size is recommended?
5-Anyone knows about good CNG installation places in RWP / ISD or Toyota workshops are good for this?
6-What other things need to take care while installing CNG?
    7-Any other Advise?

    Thanks,

    Azhar

Remember 1 thing, our cars are designed to be run on petrol, CNG is jugari method which is bad for car and would hurt your budget in servicing and what not.

    Drive safe & sip petrol

Dear all frieds who are voters of petorl, I like offense to CNG but why 90% cars in pakistan including Toyota latest models and Civic latest models are running on petrol. Why Toyota is giving 1 year warranty of KIT and 2 years warranty of vehicle incase of CNG Installation.
Please come up with some logical reasons. Simply saying NO to CNG won't be a good arguement I guess.

@Sjehsam - you are right - My GLI is 2011 (facelift) - its giving me 16 on long routs on petrol and aruind 9-10 in local. On Avg 6-8 Rs per kilometer which is more or less equals to CNG. Plus shortage of CNG and waiting in lines make it more expensive. But I created this thread to know the view of CNG uses as well to increase my limited knowledged about CNG. Lets see what comes out.

i am experiencing CNG in Ma Civic EXI Auto 2006.... and seriously i hate it... but ma dad dont let me get rid of it.....

Havent installed in GLI, but heard that, it destroys the engine after 60 - 70 k.... (i dont know the reasons, but i heard from different Toyota Users and one Mechanic working in Insurance Company)......

also ur 2 years warranty from Toyota will end as soon as u installed CNG....

For long life of your car i will ask you stay with Petrol.. you will love ur ride...

CNG will save money.. but in the long run you the money saved will be spent in the maintenance or repairing the car parts.

if you run your car on petrol the engine will be good and in the long run you will not have to spend much on the maintenance apart from the usual tuining (if required)

also from my experience i can say that car engine gets used to CNG and then when you turn it on petrol it gives your problems... i faced it when i had a car which was run entirely on cng and when i wanted to convert it into petrol... i gave me so much headache that i sold it

@Haa - well these are EFI vehicles which are automatically started on Petrol so engines remains use to of Petrol so I dont think if will create CNG to Petrol issue. Secondly if light weight vehicles like Mehran, Cultus, baleno etc can bear CNG weight then COROLLA is lot lot stronger than those vehicles. BTW Totyota is launcing same vehicles with CNG fitting in next phase.

Cng is strongly not recommended in Corolla 2009+ models. It creates head issues after 30-35 thousand km. If u want to run car on CNG. Sale it and buy ecotec. They have improved the head for CNG in ecotec version.
CNG is poison for Dual vvt-i. Rest is upon yours. If u can spend 60-70 thousands after 25-30k km for head. Then you can install.

I really aprpreciate friends comments here. It is becoming a knowlege base and other people will get benefit of it.

I have few comments as I am researching on this now a days:

1-I visited two rent a cars and specially asked about CNG issus in 2009, 2010 and even 2011. Most of people (drivers) said that they are running these cars over 100,000 kilometers and there is not a 1% issue in any car CNG

2-Regarding consumption there is lot of difference while running car on Petrol in city. Like 150 kilometers are coverted in 55 cylinder in Rs 550 - 600, while 150 kilometers on petrol are covered in Rs. 1500 (with avg of 9-10 KM / L). So it makes 1:3 ratio. So I think CNG is lot economic than petrol in city. However in long driver this differnet comes to 1:2 ratio.

3-I am still looking for more people who are using CNG in GLI's so that we can learn from their experince.

    Thanks Everybody.
