Question CNG for Toyota GLI 2011

    Dear Friends,

I have receently purchased a GLI 2011 and running on pertorl. I intend to use CNG as second option so I need some technical advises if anyone can help me on few things:

1-Is CNG recommended for GLI 2011?
2-If yes, after how much mileage it should be installed?
3-Whch CNG is better for this car?
    4-What cylinder size is recommended?
5-Anyone knows about good CNG installation places in RWP / ISD or Toyota workshops are good for this?
6-What other things need to take care while installing CNG?
    7-Any other Advise?

    Thanks,

    Azhar

I have few comments as I am researching on this now a days:

1-I visited two rent a cars and specially asked about CNG issus in 2009, 2010 and even 2011. Most of people (drivers) said that they are running these cars over 100,000 kilometers and there is not a 1% issue in any car CNG

2-Regarding consumption there is lot of difference while running car on Petrol in city. Like 150 kilometers are coverted in 55 cylinder in Rs 550 - 600, while 150 kilometers on petrol are covered in Rs. 1500 (with avg of 9-10 KM / L). So it makes 1:3 ratio. So I think CNG is lot economic than petrol in city. However in long driver this differnet comes to 1:2 ratio.

3-I am still looking for more people who are using CNG in GLI's so that we can learn from their experince.

    Thanks Everybody.
    exactly what i am saying
the rolla bought (zero meter) for rent of taxi purpose got cng in very start (in very low mileage) n now 09 new shapes r on 100k plus mileage with no majority issues
n yes petrol is significantly expensive as compared to cng
1st i was planning to cng ed my vario but now think to move to some one else in no time

I would recommend using petrol as well.... the cng difference in taxi rollas is just due to the fact that there are several major differences in engine tuning after cng installation....

on a properly tuned vehicle, difference is not more than 1.5x... and, :-), u being a 16 lac rolla owner, could manage that easily... just improve ur driving ways to drive the car more fuel efficiently.. and thats aal.. it would stay with u for a lifetime...

if u want to go for CNG badly, then choose ecotec... the proper CNG variant of the rolla... always prefer to not install CNG on this car...

hope so my words help u a bit... cheers...

The only issue I can think of with rolla engine is fixed valve clearance, non-adjustable type and every other joe machinists have been fixing this issue for 9th gen as well.

p.s. get the work done from some reputable installer as DBW may cause some issue, and worry about wiring only not engine head at this point of time.

If CNG was so bad than why would Toyota be offering factory fitted GLI and XLI with CNG? kindly don't tell me that they have a engine designed specifically for CNG

All the best Azhar, the car in the picture has CNG since 2009, 2 months after it came from Toyota when its oddo was at 5k. Now it is around 45K and running simply FLAWLESS. Never went for service. Goes regularly to toyota air port for 5K km oil change. The plugs are still in tact. No tuning and stuff needed. 160Km in city with 55lit cylinder. On long route it touches 190Kms in a cylinder.

I have recently gotten a new gli 2011, gona get it converted after some time. How much did it cost you?

I would agreeably disagree with you on this.. dear these cars are not worth the cost we pay for them. I hope you are with me on this. Secondly, paying a heavy cost once doest not essentially means that you are subscribed to a high cost fuel on the use of this investment you are making. It totally depends on the usage of the car. If you regularly use your car in city, cng costs you 1/3rd the cost of petrol. And not to forget, this cost you incur is paid from your monthly expense budget. Each one of us save bits from our income to buy a bigger asset. Hence, there cant be a blessing than to minimize our monthly recurring cost.

Moreover, the myth that CNG destroys or does bad to engines to an extent that they become scrap at one time..I think its high time to get over it. We've had these kits for several years now and how many of us know cases where engines failed due to running on CNG.

    Cheers!

Hi Friends, Interesting discussion going on Will share my comments her as well

I given a long drive to my car on last few days on CNG (on Motorway) and it ran perfectly fit. I got my 55 cylinder filled 4 times on my trip and avergae came out to 220-230 KM / cyliner. I was amazed to see this AVG coz I used may cars in past and none given such low milegae.

Seconldy Totoya has given me GUARANNTY that my 2 yrs warrany will remain valid, specially if engine got failed due to CNG reasons. So what else I need

Friends, who are opposing CNG should keep in view that CNG is not being used in Paksitan only, its worldwide and there is not shame in using CNG rather than PETROL. You can better use your money else where rather than burning petrol

Its totally a personal Choice and your Mental Satisfaction for choosing the Fuel as i think all the Fuel and Car Expense Sum Ups is almost same not a Fortune Difference, Toyota installed CNG kits are better in sense tht u dont need to go to local market ustaads/chotta which can be good and bad at same time, while you can be cheated in the things very easily as sellers swears but still sell out the fake ones, while Toyota ECO-TEC CNG Kit is good in look and theory, not experienced it though.
