my lou142 white corolla,, 93 jdm was non powersteering with 155 profile tires,,

@spitfire is not very happy about his rx7savanna been nonpower with 205 tire.

i can do with my kp60, non power but i have 155 tire.

.. once car is rolling steering is possible

    its not worth it,

in 1.3l non power gives more power.

in 2.0 l car, non power steering dont give too much additional power,

you know - ratio of power loss with power/steering is less because of more torque

iam not doing this for more from the engine as the power gain is minimal... i just feel that the old power rack is not giving its 100%,,,as manual steering can easily be rebuilt and gives better handling and steering feel....thats my opnion

keeping nominal fluid in powersteering doesnt make it loose, powersteering can be adjusted, ask a experienced mech there how to make powersteering not so loose.

ae86 has power but its not very loose at speed.
i can still turn steering with one hand while parking

the grey car tilsm drives has koyo seiko steeringand wasnt loose at high speed , good handling with small f angle steering wheel .. back in 09. im sure theystill have same steering,, buy jdm steeringcolumn adjustable height if you want to replace

non power steering usually have thin tires. 155 and lightweight engine

my 94 xe was also didnt have power steering
trust me, converting the cars steering to power was the best alteration i did on the car

a daily driven car with lacking any of these (AC/heater/power steering) is pretty much useless in my view
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

    @GTiR

Hydraulic Power Steering is already much heavy thn the EPS so i think with Hyd Power Steering its good combination.

my idea is to convert to eps and add an on/off button, you get control when you want and comfort when you want
