Default corolla xli,, engine noise damper

ok,,, i have heard that there is covering underneath the hood of Altis, whcih reduces the engine noise to a grt extent...i want to know can i install such covering or blanket,,or whatever underneath the hood of xli too ???

because i hate the engine noise and i want my cabin to be as quite as possible.............

plz also tell me the cost of its instalation if its possible and also tell me the advantages and diadvantages of doing so..one possible disadvantage which comes to my mind is that covering might get over heated due to the heat generated by engine......

    i wana know it ,,,,

and also other measueres to make the cabin as quite as possible...

    thanks.

    well,,thanks Alcapone......

i wana know about the disdavantages of instaling it in XLI.....it might reduce the pic of car due to extra weight or otherwise?..beacuse it is made for
ALtis which is a power ful car.

or it may get over heated due to engine heat???

i think the men at rawal and islamabad motors wont tell about its disadvantages.............

@asd123, dude even the Shitty has one and since its pick is nasty as it is, you should'nt be bothered! I don't get too much noise until my GLi crosses 100Kph. Actually I enjoy the noise, one sweet engine under the hood!

How come your car will get over heated, are there any holes in the bonet that you ll close by installing a light sheet, how will it make your car heavier, I dont think so, go for it , also you can fix some insulation material under the carpet of your car, it will help, Daewoo Racers got it, no other local car.

adding 3 4 Kgs will reduce pick up of your car, or make it overheat due to the cover being placed on the engine.

Think for a while and tell me yourself. Does it make sense, or am in understanding it wrong?

Hey do you weigh your clothes before wearing them, a heavier Jeans make your engine over-heated and does your Pick get affected

common sense is a sense which is soooooooo common.
i heard that u were an engineer by profession. dont they teach simple mechanics?

the cover should fit as the front hood is the same for all corollas.

i dont get it,,,,why u always miunderstand my topics.....first thingh ,,that i dont know what is the shape or size of the insulation so how am i supposed to know that whether it will reduce the pic or not ??

second thingh,,,,the insulation will be put underneath the bonet,,,and the heat i am talking about is genertaed from the engine which is then paased on to the bonnet,,so my question was ,,that if the under side of the bonnet is covereed with insulation,,how will the engine heat be dissipated ???

    @alacpone

where does the common sense is involved in it....

.btw,,i called the morons at rawal motors,,they said there is a plce in pindi called.....i forgot,,very difficult name was it........from where u can install it...............he said it was made for diesel cars to reduce noise...the dude did not know that Altis is laso having it............................. no offense to anyone,,but i always feel that professional level of people at pindi is very much lower than that of lahore.

can some body post the pic of this mystrious insulation ????

    Bhai Jaan
the one under the bonnet has no harm whatsoever. Altis and SE Saloon have Noise Restraint Covers bolted on the engine. I thought u r talking about that one. It also helps in reducing noise. Chevrolet Optra also has got one.

here is a pic which has both covers

asd123....get a new set of tyres first ...replace ur general's ...dont waste money on this insulation sheet...XLi is not supposed to be a quiet car..no matter what u do...

and by the way..i assure that the bonnet of a car plays no role in heat dessipation....
and carrying 5-10 kg of weight wont effect the pick....
and u wont need iron muscles to lift the bonnet after installing the insulation (u thought it must be heavy)...
and u wont have to change ur bonnet or its latches...
and it wont effect the resale of ur car....
and IT WON'T MAKE UR CAR TURN OTHER PPL's HEADS...
Definitely taxi walas will continue to be impressed by ur car and continue to give way to u at crossings even if u live without a insulation sheet!!

    wow! im tired!
