    Default corolla xli,, engine noise damper

    ok,,, i have heard that there is covering underneath the hood of Altis,whcih reduces the engine noise to a grt extent...i want to know can i install such covering or blanket,,or whatever underneath the hood of xli too ???

    because i hate the engine noise and i want my cabin to be as quite as possible.............

    plz also tell me the cost of its instalation if its possible and also tell me the advantages and diadvantages of doing so..one possible disadvantage which comes to my mind is that covering might get over heated due to the heat generated by engine......

    i wana know it ,,,,

    and also other measueres to make the cabin as quite as possible...

    thanks.

    bonnet is not there for heat dissipation, radiators are meant for this very purpose. as i stated earlier if u get that insulation material installed there then it would help reduce engine noise as well as keep the paint of bonnet intact as heat would gradually fade the paint. i am sure u know that if u keep ur car parked in sun then paint fading will start to occur at much faster rate. thats why car polihes and all related stuff( car cover) we use to protect car paint. i hope u got the point this time.

    Although the bonnet act as a heat sink and dissipates 5-10% of engine heat, and installing the shield will blocking the transfer of heat to the bonnet, a 5-10% heat of the engine will be there and the radiator fan will run more often than routine...but again the heat will be compensated by the fan and no need to worry about that!

    The Primary goal of that specific shield is to protect the bonnet from the engine heat, that causes paint fading...

    @robin and testdriver

    altough u were not the part of on going discussion but u answered in a very logical way...u pointed out correctly regarding fadding of bonnet paint from the engine heat.

    now i am convinced that heat disipation from the bonnet wont be effected by instalation of a insulating cover underneath the bonnet.

    so i am going for it.....its a good option to have in ur car.

    @spectra

    hmmm,,,i better keep quite about the butt thingh ,,remember dude,, i listed u in one of my favourite pakwheelers.

    yep xli is a common car made by toyota...does not come in the category of luxury cars so noise sppressing features have been ignored for cost purpose

    and the bloody bonnet has nothing to do with heat dessipation ...if it had, our paki mechanics would have removed the bonnets of all vehicles in summers!! like they remove the thermostat of all cars (bloody idiots)

    if it has taken so much pain to make an ENGINEER understand the principle of heat dessipation, imagine the state of ignorants like me!!! i hereby join spectra and others in crying...loud!!

    asd123....u've been told 1000 times to get new tires for ur car....but u remain a stubborn fellow.....i again advice u not to dish Rs 5000 for the insulation...put in some more bucks and replace the tires......insulation wont make much of a diff..even civic has no insulation under the bonnet yet it is quiter than all toyotas including altis...it has to do more with the design

    corolla xli engine noise damper -648585

    better went to old spares market in lahore and get that cover from any JDM engine...........the same cover u can see on Corolla X JDM......with VVT-i...........you will get that...
    and also get hood shield...that will reduce much sound...
