Default Altis '05 Engine Oil - Issue of decreasing qty

    Hi Friends,

I've am having 2005 Altis and it is consuming engine oil, like after few days it requires a top-up, on long drives like from Peshawar-Islamabad it will consume almost a quarter. This same issue was with another 2005 Altis i owned previously.

Just i am curious does this problem exist with other owners of same model. Otherwise plz. help.

Just to mention the vehicle is under very good use, i bought it when it was having 40,000 km on it.

    Thanks all.

No leakage and no blue smoke ... not possible

the logical reasons now could be ..
-- the oil is being evaporated .. needs a lot of heat to do that ... not possible unless u r using some 3rd rated oil
-- oil mixing with water .. there should be over-heating and water in radiator will be of milky colour
-- your dip-stick doesn't fit in place .. still a higher oil level should be maintained

remove breather pipe from the tapit head cover, going to air-cleaner, if it has oil in it ur car is smoking ... reasons could be worn out rings or internal leakages

The oil you are using might be a counterfeit product.

Well amazed to c u have faced same n with Mobil, as i have just searched abt this thing which i have also faced.
On 30th sep i have changed the oil with semi synthetic Mobil 2000.
While went for eid so car ( prius 07) completed approx 3000 km. on 11th oct.
i have checked oil level n checked it again as it was on its last of dip.
Went to Mobil shop near DHA entry main boulevard, he said to top it and then check it again.
So now i m checking but carefully coz b4 i never checked oil level regularly.

i have a altis 06 auto, with 55k on clock less drive, never faced this issue and there are also other members with high milage altis and not facing issue as well, only similarity between us we are using Mobil 1 5W-50 fully synthetic oil, so even with fully synthetic oil on long route no oil consumptions whatsoever. you should reconsider your oil viscosity as well as as brand or make sure you are not getting counterfeit product or locally packed product, what price did you pay for oil? 4 litre pack of 5W-50 costs around 5000rs, plus 1600rs for 1 litre pack extra as altis takes just a but more than 4 litres, i thin you got the wrong or cheap oil, also simply check your PCV valve it can also cause oil to reduce without any outward signs. i think correct oil will cure the issue, and 1zz-fe engines are know to slurp up some oil its mentioned in the cars owner manual as well so its normal and you don't have to worry, it might not have happened in the first place if you have been using correct oil since day one.
If everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane!

I think the best viscosity for Altis is 5W30 or 10W40 no need to use super hi tech oils, this engine doesn't require it. Use Shell Fully Synthetic or Mobil 1 5W30 else normal 10W-40 from any reputable brand is good enough drain oil at 4000-5000km. Use OE filters.

Every engine produce till now reduces oil, oil consumption is normal thing in motor engines but in acceptable range and conditions. Some engines have 1 litre in 3000km some do 1 litre in 4000km or some do 500ml in 5000km. Mostly in highway driving engine burns oil or usage of extreme thin synthetic oil can cause this. I know many people who pour 0W20 or 0w30 in their corolla or civic and face oil reduction problem because the engine is not designed to work on that viscosity, engine oil has certain parameters. I always suggest to my friends that in Pakistan the best viscosity we can use are 20W50 old engines, 10W40 medium mileage engine, 5W30/5W40 new engines.

Its a long-stroke engine, so don't use very thin engine lube.
I wouldn't use Mobil 1 unless I was cent percent sure of its originality, which mostly cannot be done.
Use the shell helix green/bluish box, or use the grey one if you have deep pockets and really want to go the extra millimetre.
