Finally my gli did 2100kms...now its time for its oil change and I'm switching to synthetic one.
    plz tell me 2 things:
1.Is there any need to flush the engine as it came with factory filled toyota petron oil which is mineral now next oil will be synthetic???

Your Ecotec will turn into an environment foe vehicle.

What's the point on changing engine oil at 2100 kms?

There is no need at all. Also there is no harm in changing at every kilometer.

Anyways it's the choice of the car owner. Use best of the best brand.

Finally using Toyota Genuine Motor Oil (japanese tin pack).....4Lit for 2580Rs from toyota township.Oil was SL 10W-30.Now performance and starting is better and engine is also less noisier.
Toyota mechanics were not at all happy on my decesion.....all of them asked to use petron which costs 1900Rs and is SAE 20W-50 mineral oil......they said Japanese oil is not suitable for our environment but I kept on insisting.
They said this Oil will work max for 3000kms or 4months.
I asked them about Zic A+ and Zic OW they said Zic is good for winters but not for summer.

the toyota oil is mineral i believer, use it till 10k km (oil change should be at 5k), than if you want shift to synthetic, this is what people say, i used caltex formula (10w30), in a gli 03 model for 180k km (changed every 5k km), and it gave me no problems, synthetic last more but due to our dustier environment i believe you shouldn't use it as advertised i.e. 10k~15k km.

the main problem is getting original oil what ever it may be mineral or synthetic, so get it from a reputable place. secondly the viscosity you chose is fine i believe, and 20w-50 is too thick for current generation engines, though experts here can shed more light on this.
its all about power to weight ratio...

let them say what ever they are saying TGMO is way better then proton they are saying this because they get big commission on proton, I have been using TGMO for the last 3.8 years now in two of my corollas, a vitz and a Suzuki alto and a satisfied customer. I have used Zic A+ 5W - 20 as well its better on mileage i must say but TGMO is a lot better if you talk about smoothness ....
