Exclamation HELP!!! Oil Change Interval for ZIC 0W in Corolla GLi 2011 Petrol; 12000 km driven

Dear Experts - Need your help

I have just purchased ZIC 0W oil for my Corolla GLi 2011 Petrol - 12000 km driven car.

Purchased the same from HyperStar where the sales man advised me to change this oil after 12000 kms; and ZIC A+ after 8000 km.

I am surprised how can an engine oil last for so long... please advise me the correct oil change interval for my car.

Your expert views will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks!

that is valid for highway use only. e.g. if you live on a highway and only drive on them, never come inside cities

So what should be the change interval for this oil considering that the car is driven in Karachi City only. No travelling on highways.

Today I got the oil changed to ZIC 0W; I am very confused as the metallic sound started coming from the engine when idle. Also the car started to knock more often and further when accelerating and decelerating the engine is making more noise then before.

I am very scared as to what is happening as this was the best oil that was recommended to me by ZIC person in Hyperstar.

    Need your help!!!

0W visosity synth oils are used in extremely tight tolerance engines or in extremely cold climates, more like in siachen etc. but its a cold rating, the oil should perform like its Summer rating when the ambient is warm like normal.

Phone up ZIC and ask them whats up with this? In my opinion you should always stick to the manufacturer spec.

I was facing same problem of a little high engine noise after using ZIC OW in my 2011 GLI back in Jan 2011, In summers also got the feeling that 0-30 is not suitable viscosity for summers in Pakistan. So recently i change the oil after 6000km & switched to Caltex Havoline fully synthetic & the engine noise is slightly reduced. My car is 15000KM driven. Though i was not facing any knocking or oil reducing issue. Zic OW gives best fuel average but the engine noise annoys me so though to give caltex fully synthetic a try.

5w30 or 5w40 are best grades for new cars as far as synthetic is concerned

Brother use genuine Toyota OEM oil 5W30 imported from Japan with OEM Filter.

Cost Rs. 3,000 for 4L oil and Rs. 1,200 for filter.

Change at every 6,000 km or 6 months.

your car will work great for decades to come.
