Post CNG in a 2007 Corolla Axio

Hey guys, I'm looking to but a '07 Axio, but I've heard from people that its not good for CNG conversion. They say it gives low mileage and causes engine problems.
On the other hand, other people say that if installed correctly, the new Japanese imports function very well on CNG giving great mileage and that it all depends on the installation.
Previously I'd thought not to convert it, because the difference between CNG and Petrol was not that much, but with the recent change in CNG price I' forced to reconsider.

    Thanks!

I'm not really sure as to the current price. but I think it's somewhere in the 60K range.

I think VVTi engines like that of AXIO already give good fuel economy, so no need to install CNG. Secondly, why to spoil such a nice car by installing CNG in it.

No dont go for Axio Automatic if u r thinking to install CNG on it. Buy XLI instead and Install Injector Based LANDI RENZO Kit same as ECOTEC.

its to early to decide for anyone to get a new kit
let real winters start. cng loadshedding might go up to 4 days

plus if ur mind is stuck on cng. sell the car
buy a manual transmission local car like city
i wont recommend corolla as it gives lesser mileage then city and every second new shape corolla is getting stolen
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

OK, first of all, I haven't bought the car yet, this is just research. Prudent purchasing and all that. But can anyone give me some solid figures, like mileage/consumption on both Petrol and CNG. I'd really like to hear from Axio owners who have installed CNG and hose who haven't so I can get a clearer picture and compare.

I do realize that CNG load shedding is a problem in the winter, and obviously I will be factoring it in when making a final decision.
I would also like to hear from people who own X Assissta Package's and local cars too. But honestly, in my personal experience local cars, no matter how good or expensive, can compare to the comfort, luxury and overall build quality of a Japan assembled vehicle.

Thanks for your input guys, much appreciated!

Bhai jan, ask anyone who tried to install CNG in City VArio, Vitz (2nd Gen), Axio, New Premio and you'll know what I'm talking about.

CVT gearbox ki plates jal jayengi which will ruin the gearbox altogether. Agay aapki marzi.

Do you even know what you just said, sir? Whats the technical and logical scenario behind that?

People say a LOT of things, Reborn cng py nai chalti, accord sirf hi octane py chalti hai, CNG + prosmatec is a bad idea, CNG + CVT=doomsday and bla bla bla!

But I have personally seen prados, accord CL9, prosmatecs and CVTs on CNG running perfectly fine. Don't know where do people coin such things.

The difference in CNG and petrol is around 42 Rs. You can break even in less than 6 months if your vehicle is a daily runner.

Assuming 80 km per day and saving of Rs 3.4/km, you save around rs 290/day. Rest of the math is easy. And these are approx minimum figures; practically they're better.

That came from a friend who blew his City Vario CVT gearbox on CNG. This is the rationale that our mutual mechanic gave. Do'nt know the whole technical aspect though, you are right.

CL9 and prosmatecs DO run on CNG, no issues.. that's because of their gearboxes. I know someone who does own a cl9 on cng and its working fine. I never argued on that. Prados also I've seen on CNG.

But the point here isn't the fact that a car is luxurious or expensive.. its the type of gearbox that is adequate to function well with CNG.

I dont know why people think CNG as a cheaper fuel, specially when the latest cars are considered. A VVTi engine may cause valve burning problem when run on CNG. Aik baar head khulwa ke repair hoga tow bachat aik tarf...and what to say more? If auto transmission then keep in mind that this is not conventional but a CVT,which may be damaged while run on CNG, after a certain time period so where is bachat? drive ka maza bhi kharab, gaari bhi kharab aur lambi line mein lag ke CNG milne ki tension...

first of all auto + cng sucks. conventional or cvt.seen both types of gears busted due to cng
secondly they are countless number of examples wr CVT transmission failed due to CNG and people had to install kabli ones
thirdly these DOHC toyota engine are prone for head jobs on CNG.depends how lucky u r till its bust
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....

CNG with 3 days load shedding is a total waste of money, space and a good engine.
