Default Fan Club Toyota Corolla Axio

Hello Fellas, so there wasn't a dedicated Axio fan club thread and there was a need of one so this is it. I hope we can help each other out with whatever useful info we have on the car.

I'll start of with a lil intro of what I did right after getting my Axio 'X' (2WD).

    Maintenance
Transmission Toyota CVT-TC Oil for Axio with CVT transmission (40k KM recommended drain interval)
Engine Oil Use 5W30/10W30/0W20/5W40 Oil (API SN/SM)
Filters OEM Oil/Air filter from Toyota Capital I-9, change interval: 10k KM
Throttle Body Get it cleaned if its dirty (it probably will be) Every 20-30k KM
Brake Pads Change upon looking at their condition, mine were in good condition so didn't change em. Originals usually last LONG
Coolant Didn't change, change with original Toyota coolant every 2yrs or 100K KM's (whichever comes first)
Spark Plugs Denso FK20HR11 for Axio with 1NZ-FE (X and G) and Denso SC20HR11 for Axio with 2ZR-FE (Luxel), OEM recommended
Brake Fluid Change every year, OEM recommended is DOT3/4 oil

    Thumbs up

Toyota Axio 2010 user manual, its for JDM so the language is Japanese:
    http://toyota.jp/manual/corollaaxio/...xio_201004.pdf

    English versions from US Market:
    http://justgivemethedamnmanual.com/t...wners-manuals/

There will be some differences b/w the two but hopefully still of some use.

    Thanks for your response.

Something else I am wondering about, the ride height of Axio, ground clearance won't be good with 5 people sitting in it plus some luggage. One option is to install spacers on the suspension to increase the ride height (and increase rim/tyre size) but I am wondering if there are any genuine OEM/Toyota suspension/coils with increase height available (local or abroad) which can be installed?

Installing used/kabuli ones will be an option but what about new, if they are available with increased height? Part numbers etc.?

Yes the car will hit bumps and breakers on the road with 5 passengers then again Honda City does the same as well. I won't recommend installing spacers but you can go from 14" OEM tyres/rims to 15" tyres/rims (195/65/R15).

    Thanks and Eid Mubarak!

What should be done if recently purchased Axio's fuel consumption is not as other people say? 14-20 km/liter (city/highway)? Change the spark plugs?

Also, what does it mean when the speed meter shows higher speed than what the actual speed is, by 5-6 km/hour? Tyres are too big? small?

What fuel consumption are you getting?
On motorway/GT-Road (long route) I get anywhere from 17-20km/l+- but note with a light foot and road speed limits in check.
Locally with 100% AC its around 13-14km/l+- but with a slightly heavy foot (I.e. less and less eco light on )
My fuel consumption dropped around 1.0-1.5km/l+- after installing 195/65/R15 from OEM 185/70/R14 but I'd say it was worth it cause now car hits only them 'car breakers' normal speed breakers are fine.

Coming to the instrument cluster reading, it shows roughly 5km/h+- more than the actual reading (verified from GPS based speed reading).

My uncle's recently purchased Axio, not 100% confirmed yet about the consumption but he suspects around 10 in local with A/C and yes, keeping within the Eco light range. Shall see after another refill, it may be better but the tyre size is also big though, 205s/R15.

    Thanks!

10 is too low... Sure the mileage would have dropped more with 205/15 but not to the level of 10km/l.
There are a bunch of things that might be wrong so you know one has to check one by one:

    - Change your fuel station (it helps A LOT, I've heard F6 Caltex is quite good)
    - Air filter
    - Throttle body service
    - Which spec oil being used? (Check first post for more info, Axio user manual states that except for 5w40)

After all these comes the tricky parts
    - Get your catalytic converter checked to see if its choked or not.
    - Check the AFR sensor on the car checked

These are the things that come to mind atm^

Any reasonable person who drive around in city with ac and does see a bit of ac usage on idling. 10 is very reasonable in that case.

My Axio is a daily driver and during rush hours, the car does sit idle which can range from 5-15min in some cases and I am still getting 13-14km/l so no 10km/l is not at all reasonable. Lol the worse I ever got was 12 point something

Brother sorry for late reply, coz I was sick since Eid day. My AXIO is giving 15+ in mixed driving with full time AC ON. Usually, my car is driven on long so giving 17~18 km/l (even 20+ on high octane but checked only two times). I avoid city driving on AXIO, but whenever driven, never found it less than 14 km/l. So you are lucky that even after 15 min idling, u r getting this (13~14) average. I agree with u that 10 is less in case of AXIO. Some thing maybe wrong with qwertypoiu's AXIO.

    - Anyone tried ECU reset for Axio? When should it be done? and what's the cons and pros if any.
    - Any DIY gurus here? Inquiring concerning installation of multimedia controls on steering & OEM camera on back, without any wire-cutters & tapes....

    @StrikerX @AmeerUsman

The above and also, I read this in another Axio forum:

    5) Auto lock / unlock / side mirror folding
Anyway to tap onto the gearbox signals such that I can auto lock the car doors when car is shifted out of Park and unlock when car is shifted into Park?
Similar for folding of side mirrors. Or any other signals I can tap for such purposes?

Has anyone tried this? and would it be possible to do this in a clean way i.e. without cutting any wires etc. (No one has responded to this question in the other forum)

I think the feature is present in American Corolla, since its mentioned in their User Manual.
