Exclamation Toyota Corolla - How to improve the mileage/economy?

    Hi Guys,

Back in July 2012 I purchased my new Toyota Corolla XLi - 2012 model, it was a brand new car.

But since the time I have purchased this vehicle I am not pretty much satisfied by it's mileage, it's giving me around 11.5 Km/Litre within the city without AC, I am running it totally on Patrol, I do not remember exactly about it's mileage when I was running it on AC but I guess it was round about the same.

When I visited Toyota Walton motors and asked their mechanics about any tips to improve the fuel economy, they said I need to use High Octane fuel as it will improve the fuel economy, I did it but it's not much of a difference. I see that the economy gets improved when you are really soft at the acceleration paddle, it rises above to about 14.5 to 15 Km/litre but believe me driving like that you will feel that you are sitting in the slowest vehicle of the road.

Any tips of suggestions from you geeks on how to improve this fuel economy? Suggestions are most welcome and the advisers would be shown special gratitude.. :-) LOL

    Nothing to worry about...
    That's normal for corolla's...

My DAD managed to achieve 17km/L on his way back from Islamabad on soft pedal....

    It depends on driving style

Most of the petrol is consumed while accelerating and sudden braking. Adopt a different style of driving brother as it accounts for 33% of what fuel economy you get..
No use of tuning as your car is brand new, do check your tyre pressure and drive at 30psi.

Use Iridium spark plugs Denso ik20 Price is around 3500 and u will have good acceleration and very good fuel economy.I am using it in my corolla Altis 1.8 and its mileage is around 9-10km/L in city and 14.5km/L on long routes these results can be improved by making ur foot light as i am heavy on foot while driving.
