    Default corolla ae-101 cold air intake

    wondering if any corolla ae-101 owners here desiged cold air intake by cutting a hole on side under fuse box behind battery into area above tire and extending the aluminum pipe till behind bumper?

    i know new corolla models make designs with airintake through side , from area above wheel. any one has pics of such cars with side fender not connected so we can see how the design is.

    Under the radiator is a bad idea as its bound to hit our great speed breakers rather car breakers.

    not difficult to put the intake in fender but noise in cabin will be deafening.

    another option is to buy another bonnet and do something like what hash4u has done for air intake.

    or the better option is to buy one which is specifically designed for your car....they are cheap in dubai.

    nissan b12 and b14 also has such opening.

    i think, the diesel variant in your car has a path along the battery to get a pipe across to the sound box in the fender. try to find that.

    Cold air intake as is shown by szuberi will work perfectly. no need to cut holes anywhere.

    @Levin
    I think the setup as posted by @szuberi needs alterations in the bonnet for more air suction then you can take some benefits of CAI, and in that case, the filter will start clogging with dust very often.

    The second option, like air intake from the fenders, will be far better!

    Rashid Bhai just get your old Bonnet back from your mechanic and lets get that fixed with an opening for a cone air filter.

    the picture i posted up there has a short ram intake...not a cold air one. a cold air is always better cuz cold air is more rich and dense with oxygen which is better for combustion...

    i wish i could see the engine bay myself....cutting or welding anything in there to intall an intake doesnt sound like a good idea....

    i agree with you what u said initially...you should be able to route the intake piping all the way down on the top edge of the wheel well or fender liner (the curved plastic piece fixed on top of the tire.
