Default Toyota Corolla GLi VVTi (2010/ 2011) performance on CNG

    Dear Experts,

I am planning to buy Toyota Corolla GLi VVTi (2010/ 2011). I heard that there are some issues in performance / engine over CNG.

    Kindly advise?..

    Thanks in advance.

Well, I installed CNG in my 2009 GLi when it was 15k driven. It occasionally use to cause me trouble when I used to switch it back on petrol. Would not take the accelerator properly and I would always have to reset the battery once to make it work properly on petrol.

However, now as it got to 105k, it suddenly started missing both on Petrol and CNG. This time i have gotten the CNG removed but I think I have gotten late since the mechanics have diagnosed a problem with the valves... Wish I had removed CNG in time...

Now planning to sell it off..

      Regards,
      Yasir Hassan Maken

I have kept 2 2009 Glis so far. One has been driven around 1 lac km so far and its trouble free.. Whereas the other, as I mentioned above has started causing continuous trouble (missing etc on petrol even) due to a problem with its valves.. I would suggest not to use CNG in these cars at all..

normal cng kit has valve issues, but using sequential (SIS) KIT (cost around 80K) had no issue at all.......

      My thinking is that

-CNG is better for engine as it has less carbon compared to petrol and thus produces less carbon in the engine. Keeping engine and engine oil clean.

-CNG burns hotter than petrol and thus can cause burnt valves, if precautions are not taken.
      - It is normally advised to use one range colder plug in CNG cars.
      - It is also advised to increase the valve clearances by 0.05mm over the factory specs. This would cause more time for valves to stay on the seat and thus more time for them to dissipate heat and stay cooler. As Corolla does not have adjustable valve clearance, so this cant be done. Leading to burnt valves.

Some one correct me if I am wrong.

Brother in early corollas 2008-09 there was a head problem after 50,000 km on CNG vehicles but 2010 onwards indus had changed the head so no problem on CNG the old shape Xli without vvti was best on CNG.

bhai g in part of world, there are lots lots lots of xli's gli's working at rent and threy are all at CNG. couple of known persons are also driver. they drive at gas and i never heard valve or any issue at gas.i have seen 100k+ kms driven cars including city and xli/gli with running fine.
only i feel problem in getting refilling in today's scenerio.otherwise its good with simple landirenso kit.though my car is at petrol but not to convert at CNG due to non/less-availability and long ques of gas stations.i don;t think so k koi problem hogi.go for CNG if u think that it'll be available to ur comfort
      You want Peace???

Default Corolla Gli 2009, Rpm drop from 1000 to 500,sumtimes 200. Compressor Altered.

      Dear Experts!

The car engine shuts off due to low rpm,Condenser has been changed and Compressor is altered with X- Corolla one. But it puts too much load on the car when AC is turned on. Kindly help me out how to resolve the issues. We hav been told not to replace AC compressor with orignal one as it has no gurantee.

I don't know why you changed so many things anyway if this problem is only on cng then it is all about cng adjustment

i think these r just rumors,, a few months ago,, a well known taxi driver told me that he did 650000kiloometers on his corolla xli 2005,, without any damage to engine,, now he is driving corolla 2011 and at that time he told me that there is about 150000km on odo,, now it would be arround 200000km,, he said that never ever faced any issue

I drove a rented xli once from Lahore to Faisalabad. Checked the odo for jokes, and I saw a staggering 4 lac on the odo.
Not sure how many overhauls or w/e it had, but still! These things are made to last. I prefer the 2006-2007 models because of their toughness, just the looks aren't of my taste
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

For All who are saying that there is no prob with 2009+ models on CNG.

100 percent problem aata hai valves ka, plz ja k company say chk karain, even the accept that there is prob in the head of 2009+ for CNG...RPM dropping is very normal and irritating in 2009+ CNG.
..on petrol they are ok....only ECOTECH which has company fitted CNG and different improved head is not giving prob. Many of you guys might have seen the advertisement by toyota motors sometym 2-3 years back " ECOTECH, IMPROVED HEAD TECHNOLOGY"

so stay away frm CNG if buying 2009+ , however olders models are perfect for CNG.

I could not stop myself from laughing...your advise to change engine is something more then ridiculous and shows that you dont know the concept of WELL KEPT CAR.

Any how you have a good idea as per your thinking, so u may go for 2009+ CNG Corolla happily.

      First of all
buy it no problem but be careful not to rev it cuz it won't stop reving at red line like in petrol
Have done tapped wall under 2k after cng on 2 rollas
and don't lower the pressure to save fuel
      but at the end
try to buy and run a petrol car because it's a shame to wait in a line
not because of 1.5 million car no no
because we waste our time just to save 1000 over 500 km mostly ppl dont even save 500 as compared to cng
