Default Corolla 2000 1.6 Gli petrol RPM problem

    AoA dear All

I have Toyota Corolla 1.6Gli, 16valve EFI engine, throughout on Petrol, done about 180,000kms. My car RPM is a bit problematic. It goes up to about 1500 on a cold start and then comes down a bit but always stay above 1000, something like 1200, when the car is driven locally. But if the care do more than 30 Kms in a single go, it drops down to 1000. Similarly it goes up again to 1200 after traveling another 10 or 20 kms. The RPM is not stable. Kindly suggest some good solution and the proper RPM position at idle speed, with AC off. Regards

check the two thick vacuum pipes at the back of the manifold for leaks - they are for A/C idle up and power steering load idle up. If they leak your rpm will be messed up. similarly if the plenum gasket of the manifold is leaking it will cause rpm hunt.
