    2nz-fe is the engine in xli/gli but it hasnt got vvt-i in pakistan and the output figure is also a bit less...
    its all about power to weight ratio...

    The engines in Pakistan vary a lot from there Jap counterparts, we normally get outdated technology and lower quality engine components, as you can see there is no VVT-I in our engines, figures are also misleading. Dont expect our 2NZ FE engine to deliver same output as the Jap one, even if not considering VVT-I absence.

    The 2NZ-FE is very responsive in the local Corolla, although not to the same extent as found in its Japanese variant. Much more agressive than the iDSI, however power to weight ratio may be a problem. Nevertheless, even withouT VVT-i, it provides ample torque and decent fuel consumption and I've enjoyed my GLi every bit of the way, 3 years driving and the engine is as good as it ever was!

    I love the 2NZFE power plant in my XLi. No matter it does not have VVTi, but still it has got a lot of power. There is no problem in pick even in fourth and fifth gears, you can just lift it whener you want. The drive and acceleration is smooth.

    And above all I like this engine because it is very fuel efficient, giving me 14Kms/Lit with AC in Islamabad.

    I think its not a good engine coz the earlier generation of Toyota EFI were more reliable then Z Gen...

    4E & 4A were solid as compare to 2NZFE engines ... :|

    Hello!
    @autophile...
    4E-FE was 1.3L....
    yeah 4A series like 4A-GE and 4A-GE are 1.6L.....
    yeah...as designed....4E and 4A tyres are more solid as compared to Z-GEn's.......
    HP of 3ZZ-FE 1.6 is around 110 whereas 4EFE is 115......
    whereas quitely better.....4EFE got around 98hp,88hp and 85hp(varies from model)............as compared to 88 of 2NZ-FE with VVT-i....
    so i think 4E-FE was much mote powered as compared to 2NZ-FE

    Engine block is the same with different header configuration, one is simply with fixed valve timing and other with variable valve timing. That's why these figures are different even with same bore/stroke and compression ratios!
