Altis 1.8 offcourse, alot better then a 1500cc/1300cc used imported corolla.
    It will have parts availability.
    After sale service.
    Better Resale.
Brand New 1.8ltr car at 12.25 lacs.
    It has ABS and Airbags.

I think u should go for ALTIS. 1.8 VVTi Brand new and delivery with in 60 days.
If u go for the japneses made corolla 1500c then there r only used cars available not the new ones.

Its up to u. What u will prefer. Ofcourse the japneses made corolla 1500c may hav certain features which u can't find on local made corolla.

    @ NFS.

It depends at how u look at it. The Japanese corrola will have better built quality than an Altis. But the 1.8 Altis is more powerful. Not too sure abt the fuel economy.

i always thought that the altis was imported and not locally assembeled.
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it..and so restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions.

One gets better after sales service with altis compared to an import. but if you can manage basic take care of car and like imports look then you can choose to go for import.

personally speaking, car buying an 100% one's own choice

As levin has pointed out its the matter of ones own taste.
    Altis Pros
    Availabilty of spares
    Better service
    Powerful Engine
    Heavy look
    Altis Cons
    Flimsy Interior
    Bad CraftmanShip
    Noisy
    light body

    Corolla Pros
More features like passenger air bag, headlights with internal leveler, retractable mirrors,3 way adjustable seats
    Excellent Finish

    Corolla Cons
Bad Resale (Compare to local assembled car)
Availability of Spares and usually expensive.
If you walk away from your car and don't look back, you have bought the wrong car.

people say that Altis is better, resale, spare parts, powerful, etc....

I will giver you a good advice, it depends a lot on your preference...there are two:

    1. If you want warranty, good service support, and you dont care about drive, quality, safety and features...go for Altis....I tend to differ with people here about resale of Altis, nowadays it is comparable or even worse than imported corollas. Engine of Altis is okay, but ABS sucks, honda got better ABS than Altis.

    2. If you want exceptional build quality, great ride, comfort and safety and you dont care about odometer showing ZERO, definitely go for the imported Corollas, or even Allion or Premio, as there is no comparison quality wise with Altis..Plus the resale these days is equal to or better than Altis. As far as I am concerned, if I had been in your place, I would have defenitely gone for imported, Alltis and local corolla for me are a big NO NO

The imported corolla that i am talking about costs me about 10.5 lakhs.while the altis automatic is of 13 lakhs.so there is a difference of 2.5 lakhs in price. And i have heared from almost everyone that imported toyota is much more safer and and balanced than the altis.and also the price is lower than altis.

    @ Nfs_most_wanted:

I think, "imported" corolla is way better than a local one...! And the basic reasons are, more seafty features (Air-bags, ABS etc), new look, more luxurious cabin & good value for your money...!

Buying imported car is a risk as it is a used car, not reconditioned. With Altis you are assured of your money well spent on a brand new car. Used imported cars are like Lunday Ka maal, so choice is yours.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

Couple of points i want to make here, at the end of the day the owner should driver both cars and should buy in what he's comfortable in, but we have to help and the things i have to say here are:

    @ Xain

About the cons in Altis you mentioned:

Flimsy Interior=How is this yaara, i love Altis's interior more than the one in Civic and the old Corolla and also the Imported one aswell. I know the interior may not be solid but it’s your luck if its not, the owner will have to check the car in the showroom before getting the possession of the car.

    Bad Craftsmanship=How??

Noisy=its definitely not noisy, the cabin is really quite and when you rev the engine up, the note is exquisite.

Light body=No car these days have the strong bodies of the old Corona's and car like those. The Altis has a good enough crumble zone to survive accidents. All new cars even in Pakistan have them that are why they have a light body made.

    @ Deloy

About the brakes of the Altis, i happen to own one and driven Civics’, Alts kay brakes are better than those of the civic. The wheels don’t lock up and you can easily maneuver the car even full brake pedal pushed.
