Default Spark Plug for Altis 1.8 2006

Can you please recommended me which spark plugs are best for Altis 1.8 in terms of performance not long lasting. BOSH 4 TIP Fr 78 Or Platinium 2 tip as both prices are same.. Around 1500 Rs.... Iridium are Around 3500rs which will last long but then at the same time you can replace other plugs 2 times for same period.

    AOA,

I have Altis 1.8 Cruisetronic 2010 done 33000kms. I have experimented with Bosch Super 4 FR-78X(4-tipped plugs) as well as the platinum's, how ever over period of time I noted that the best performance and milage is achieved by installing the original Toyota standard plugs.

You will ask how did I know. Well I checked 2 things after installing and running 2000kms (city + highway), the plugs and the tail pipe both should be dry and light brown in color (like rust color). When using Bosch & Platiniums the tail pipe turned black, however the plugs remained dry but were darker/ blackish in color. Which indicated that the temprature had dropped.

So I switched back to original Toyota Altis plugs available with Toyota dealership. Pls make sure you buy the plugs for Altis (K16R-U11).

that's something interesting you are telling me.. I have Altis manual 2006. Well My tail pipe, the silencer pipe is very dark in colour. As currently I am using Bosh 4-tip plugs for last 15,000 and about to change. My car does reduce slight oil on high speeds on motarway. Around 1 litree on 5000Km. Indus did check my car and couldn't find anything to indicate weakness on engine. I don't know if plugs have anything to do with it?... Well I will take your words and go for original Plugs this time around. I think Genuine are 1 Tip PLug?

Company recommended as by Toyota Indus motors Islamabad is K16R-U11 Costing Rs. 1485 as of today. Now tell me similar plugs outside are around 750Rs. Now Is their any difference between company and similar plugs available from shops?.. which company recommends denso ik20 ?? I heard Copper are best for performance and iridum only lasts longer?

    Ahaid,

As per my research from the web, the only advantage on standard engines is life of plug +60000 kms. This is an advantage in countries where labour for changing of plugs can be as high as 50UK pound.

    Suggest you read this article;

Personally I would not trust the shops in the local market.

    AOA,

How's your car, any improvement? Please update.

I would like to share few more tips with you, based on my personal experience.

1-Always go for Total petrol, It give the best performance (pickup) & milage.

Every time I shifted to other brand (PSO, Shell, Caltex & Attock) the car just becomes lazy and milage drops.

If you really want to enjoy the performance of your car add 10 ltr of high octane with tank full of super from Total.

2-I use Total synthetic oil (Golden can) and drain it at 5000kms interval.

3-I change the oil filter every time. (I buy the oil filter from Toyota 3S)

4-I Change the air filter every 10,000/- kms. (I buy the air filter from Toyota 3S). Pls make sure you buy the air filter for Altis and not Corolla. Very few people know that the filters are different.

My car does 10.8 ~ 11km/ltr in city with air conditioner on always.I get hows your car doing.
