short circuiting is very dangerous.can cause ecu to go back and even make the car catch fire in worst case scenario
you should have been back to the dealership by now :s

I have the same prob, in my corolla 2009 as well. Whenever I press breaks lights are turned on, it has something to do with the steerig wheel assembly wiring I guess coz I got them opened once coz my Odo meter lights were not working.

This is *****, your car's wiring is messed up badly I think, get it checked asap and if possible get the wiring replaced under warranty.

You have a problem with a ground connection. Disconnect and reseat all major connectors under the dash first, and elsewhere yourself, checking for any loose wires or similar problems. If that does not fix the problem, then check all the wires with grounded connections to the chassis.

I am sure bulb points are reversed.. its supposed to be a twin element bulb.. stronger light on brake.. but when electric flows in wrong element, centre screen brake will also get electric and remain on

sounds like the main ground for the tail lamps are bad or the wiring from the steering wheel stalk assembly is a bit questionable.

the problem is lying with the bulb elements most probably. seems that someone has fitted a single element bulb in the dim lights holder(which require 2 element bulb instead of one) so now when u press the brake pedal, the single element give a reverse current to the dim lamps as well.check the bulb elements asap

Replace Ur Tail Tight Bulbs....and do check for any lose connections there
