Question How to Increase Fuel Efficiency of Toyota Corolla GLI 2013 Model

    Hi,

I recently bought a brand new 2013 model Toyota Corolla GLI and have only driven it for approximately 11000 KMs. I replaced Previously Owned Honda City 2006 Model with Toyota Corolla GLI on which , i was getting fuel efficiency of minimum 15KM/Ltr within the city and almost up to 19 KM/ Ltr on long routes depending on from where i get my car fueled.

As excited as i was about the new Corolla, I have to admit, it has one of the worst fuel efficiency stats so far. I hardly get 9.75 km/ltr average since day one, and only recently got up to 12 KM / Ltr on long route while traveling between faisalabad to Multan.

I am wondering if this low average is only issue with my car or is any one else also getting average of 9.75 km / ltr?/?

Is there a way to tune up the car or make some modification to increase the fuel efficiency without compromising the engine, or putting any extra strain on it?

An advise from an expert would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Waqas

My 1.3 gli 22000km driven gives 11 on city and 17 to 18 on m2 to isb. Am using Toyota tin pack 10w-30 which improved the drive and mileage as well. Am ok with 10 to 11 in city.

Very true. I feel the same but then in a rich country like oura where petrol is soo cheap I wouldnt dream of 1.6 at all. No matterwhat u say bigger engines consume more.

Btw tank is 55 litres lol.

Well there is a stick button near digital click press it two types
    you will see 99.9kmpl
try to maintain it as much max as you can
you will get 15 kmpl and once mastered little bit more
but be careful it draws attention
thats the way you can increase efficiency

Brother fuel efficiency will increase after 10-15,000 km automatically.

However, you cannot expect it to return 15km/l because idsl city was 1.2L and almost 200kg lighter and a foot smaller in dimensions it was a sub-compact.

If you want fuel efficiency 2011-12 Toyota Passo is good for you.
All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.

I am currently getting 13.8 km/l within city from my 1.3 corolla (2011 - 24 K driven ). (on meter avg is 14.9 Km/l) here are some important factors you should consider for better fuel consumption

    1. Try to drive at Low RPM ideally between 2000 - 2300.
    2. Avoid brakes as much as you can. use engine compression
    3. Always use Good quality petrol, no need of High Octane.
    4. Regularly check Tire pressure and use stock size tires.
    5. Regularly clean Air Filter.
    6. Always purchase oil from reputable shop. and follow Toyota recommended API
    7. Oil change interval not more than 4500 - 5000 Km
    8. Regularly check your exhaust pipe if its getting black then it mean your fuel is not burn properly.

Although there are multipal other ways of hyper milling but above are the key points that should be adopted.

Well my 2009 GLi gives about 16-17 kmpl on long routes with AC. In city routes its gives about 11-13 kmpl. But it really depends upon your driving style, as I managed to get 15.8 kmpl out of it on city routes by driving carefully, that is by shifting up at about 2k rpm, and not braking uselessly.
PS. I use havoline motor oil, and change at 3500-4000 km. and my car has 133,000 km on its ODO.
