Exclamation Xli 2012 missing at 1.2k to 2k RPM

My Xli is giving me strange issue

it is missing from 1.2k to 2k RMP when accelerating an no issue on any other RMP. there was no issue earlier it has done 38K at odo meter

oil changed at 33k that is Liqui moly with Mos2 i am using from the 1st oil change and using it for 8K where as it can give easily 10k as per company recommendations. air and oil filter was also changed at same mielage whereas issue started at 37.5K.

there is no issue with the fuel as issue started when ~half tank was consumed. what i did is changed oil and air filter but problem remained same. point to be noted that i have changed spark plugs at 33K with iridium ones from Toyota and getting exceptionally good mileage since then.

anyone having any idea what could be the issue or face similar nature of problem with Toyota?

now i am planning to change fuel filter and don't want to go to toyota ppl as they just started changing things, if problem resolved they will praise them delve else they will start chaining some other things etc of may be saying that this is normal and not an issue.

car is still in warranty so your comments who have experienced similar nature of problem will be helpful for me.

    thanks
May Allah give us strength to extend happiness around us

Fuel filter need change, also check if engine is stable at idle without a/c. please cross check the ignition cables for any crack or kinks

@capsat, idle is stable without a/c i will check cable. my idea is also the bad fuel filter but don't know that logic why this missing is only at some specific RMP's like at 1.2k to 1.8K and by crossing or at 2 it got stable.

mostly jerks are at 1.8k, 1.4k RMP's. thanks for they reply

anyone else any other expert opinion !!!

What exactly do you mean by missing. I assume that there may be a time delay between you pressing the pedal and the engine giving the accelaration.??

I would start by inspecting the spark plugs, condition / constant gaps

Then I would inspect carefully the vacuum lines, all going in or out of the engine for any cracks OR a pipe that is going no where

Did you get the engine washed after which the problem started to appear?

Also note / answer if the hesitation/missing happens only when the engine is cold or warmed up or both.

What you mean to say is that your car stands perfectly okay at idle and their is slight missing as you accelerate initially?

It could be a choked throtle body, Bad plug wires, cloged Injectors, water in spark plugs, a dirty clogged airfilter,

and i hope your car doesnt has CNG.

The remedies posted above are from my personal experiences i could be wrong in the case of Corolla.

You have just mentioned the issue by yourself "Spark Plugs", change them back to the suggested spark plugs which came with car from factory.

P.S. I used irridium plugs in my car and i experienced the same problem of jerks and missing then i switched back to the normal ones.

I believe the 2nz-fe comes with Denso IK16 from factory (they are iridium plugs and are standard for these engines), to the OP: did you replace your plugs with these?

Hi all, thanks for reply I will add few more comments
Missing is more prominent at 1.8k and 1.4k RMP during drive
Missing is same in case of engine cold or hot.
    RPM is stable at idle
Spark plugs code I am not able to remember correctly but try to check the pack I had.
Spark plugs have only clocked 6k KM
Company recommends change of fuel filter at 40k so most probably I will change it coming weekend as haven't got time at this weekend
Car was not washed when this issue started

I am outstanding mileage these days that is 16km per liter calculated by topping up fuel and divided by kilometres

My route is daily RWP to ISB via murree road and back in the evening

Will update if able to change filter during weekdays

I have had same problem with my xli. Check tour accelarator sensors. They give late response when there is carbon on them. Have them cleaned. It will be ok i guess.

Hondas i guess do come with Iridium Plugs from factory but the atleast the 2nz comes with normal k16r-u11 plugs, Alternatane for the k16r-u11 is the IK-16, But its not factory fitted.

the 1.6gli (1zr-fe) comes with iridium plugs from factory hence I assumed

but anyways, as we can see that the IK16 is good for the engine, the plugs then are not the culprit IF they were installed by someone who knew how to install them

Bad plugs wud kill the idle aswell, this car has a fluctuating RPM as he presses the accelerator between 1.2-2k RPMs and then the car stabilizes to normal, So its either a clogged throttle body, or something that doesnt lets the fuel run smooth.

Check the rubber of air pipe ( for leaks) which connects t body with air filter box esp the joints at both ends.
My car used to do the same once and after a lot of internet search I just tightened the clips on the ends of said air tube n prob was gone.

    clutch plates, pressure plates, maybe....
people who use Highbeams.. once day would suffer too bigtime. People who drive slow on fast lanes, remember one day a vehicle carryin ur son, dad might get late to hospital coz people like u. underaged driving will land u in bigtime trouble one day or the other.. And the Blue indication light on ur speedometer denotes "High Beams"
