    Default Engine Oil for Altis - Need Suggestion

    I have Altis 1.8 M/T, 175k driven all the way on Toyota petron 20w50 drain at 5000 kms
    Can i switch to Synthetic oils ? because i think synthetic oils are meant for new engines until they clock 100k
    and which synthetic or mineral LM product i can use, mention price as well

    That is bad 20W-50 all the way till 175k kms you should have used atleast 10W-40 till 100K kms. Shift to Liqui Moly 10W-40 after flushing your engine with LM Engine Flush.

    @qasim;

    Why do you want to switch to synthetic oil, as you have driven 175k with out any problem.
    As you have maintained good drain interval, I would stick to mineral oil now.

    If you flush or go for synthetic there is a chance that you engine may start to "blow gas"

    well, that's my personal opinion as well, because i'm afraid synthetic oil are too thin to be used in an old engine
    I'll go for LM with my next ride IA, hopefully a 1.4 D4D if toyota launches it here !

    i have a question,
    what possible drain intervals i can get with synthetic oils on a new diesel engine, because usual 2C engine is accustomed to drain the mineral engine oil at 2500-3000 km

    Synthetic oils has usually twice or sometimes thrice long change intervals as compared with mineral oils.
    ZIC 5000 (Black color bottle) recommends CI as 5K
    LM 20/50 Diesel Specialist recommends CI as 5~6K
    Toyota TIN Pack CF grade 10/30 recommends CI as 3.5~4K

    But when using Fully Synthetic oils for Disels, then SCI should be 10~15K. But there are many things like fuel quality, driving behaviors, engine size, stops & goes, Idling, etc. etc. hence its better to change after 8~10K, but changing both filters after 3~4K is more important.
