    Default Corolla 2005 Problem. Help!

    Guys this may not sound like a problem but beleive me it is. i have two rolla's both late 05 models. one is 2.0D saloon (with ABS) done 7000km no mechanic ever seen it (except when building it ) and Gli done 5000km same mint condition.

    while driving the brakes create a grinding noise when applied on both cars. however with a few more brakes apllied in say another next 3km drive. the grinding noises go away and everthing is normal till next day when again same is repeated.

    today since the sun is out and rains stopped i inspected the disc brakes of both vehicles and i saw RUST particles on the disc of both cars. Are the disc supposed to attract RUST or is it just pathetic quality of Toyota Product??

    i have a charade which has front discs and not a particle of rust on them. they are shining new.

    any ideas as to what i can do to solve this, is this part of the Toyota Package deal that we here in Pakistan get??

    i m dissapointed in Toyota. is any 1 facing similar problems???

    Note: Gli was driven alot in the rain, where as the 2D was driven only a few times but cautiosly.

    I had a 2001 RAV4. The thing was Japanese assembled. It did the same thing. On the forums, it said that Toyota had a fix for it. However, this was not considered a major issue and could have been skipped considering it more as an annoyance rather than a problem.

    it depends on disc pads. quality sure matter there. more iron in disc pad cause rust which goes away after grinding. then u wash it or park in rain, same problen comes again.

    hello friend!! i agree to ur opnion that pakistan automobiles companies have ashamed the recognized and prestigious brands, they just produce the second class materials like the same problem in 2006 honda`s stereo system.ha! sorry dont take it as a taunt. i wannna convey u this that this might be a problem with discs or ur disc plates need to be polished.unlike japanease corolla's they they are fake one`s. in japan made cars, we have got ABS, SRX(AIRBAGS) SYSTEM AND MANY OTHER SYSTEMS EVEN IN VERY ECNOMICAL CARS LIKE VITZ 96,97,98..COROLLAS AND MANY OTHERS. they must have these systems but here u buy a car for lacks but lack these funadamental neccessities.am i not right.here just now they introduced the ABS ONLY IN 2005-2006 `ROLAS which is so sad and still gli ,xli lack it .unlike this japan's xli s OR ASSISTAS have ABS . I HOPE U MUST HAVE GOT MY POINT.EVERY THING IN PAKISTAN IS BOGUS EVEN WE OURSELVES ARE BOGUS BY EATING BRICKS IN MASALAS AND TAKING BLOOD IN TEA.

    @gttx

    The local corolla with ABS makes a lot of noise when the ABS is being used. That could be the grinding noise you're talking about, but this should'nt be the case on the Gli.

    @gttx
    The grinding noise is normal for ABS equipped vehicles,when brake applied below 60km/hr speed.

    As for the rust probem,yes all new corollas have this issue,even japanese ones.Even honda has same issue.Well if your car is standing still for 4-6 days then this problem develops(Rust on disc rotors) but if it is occasionally used every 2 days then rust development is almost un-noticable.

    Yes,I agree,quality of products has decreased but this is valid for all imported and local manufactured vehicles,only difference imported better in quality than local assembled ones but all vehicles manufactured after 2001 have these issues

    Nothing to be alarmed about.When you start driving after this phenomenon,just press brakes two to 3 times at 10 seconds interval and it will be removed.

    @shaan. i do exactly as u said. apply brakes a bit and viola all rust gone. i was going nuts abt quality, but since every 1 here says similar issue with imported cars as well then i guess i m just being paranoid. drove the car today and no sounds cuz it was dry here in isloo yestreday.

    the grinding is not bcz of ABS its bcz of the rust on rotors. braking of abs car is way better then Gli or xli. I think they did something with suspension as well cuz the 2d saloon has a slighlty softer ride compared to the Gli. It feeels soft and comfortable. both cars with standard general tyres

    braking is not as responsive as honda but if u drive within limits u will be good. drive skillfully and dont rely on brakes......every 1 must drive cars with this in mind.

    as long as you second guess you car's quality all the time, there will always be something you dont like...you have to be a little more confident.

    no car is made perfect and there are always some issues here and there with time. as other said before, there was no problem to begin with with your car.

    if you had done some research on PW, you would have gotten your answer. there was no need for this post.
    I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it..and so restriction of free thought and free speech is the most dangerous of all subversions.
