    Default lowered ae-101 corolla

Past few days, i was busy lowering my ae-101 (so called ee-100 in Pakistan). I got a TRD suspension setup from a contact . all 4 hard springs and hard frt/rear shocks. The rear is balanced with front , car doesnt roll out anymore at speed turns, going through a turn is just right going straight. Bumpy ride. 205/40/17 wheels are about two fingers from side fender. As the exhaust pipe is designed to stay away from car.. its quite close the ground now.

rear tires are kept on slight negative camber, while frt are straight.

    szuberi:

This car on 17" wheels is almost 1 inche lower than ae-101 japanese local model on 13" wheels. today, in market i saw both side by side as one guy is reversing his car close by in parking lot.

This has twice as much stiff ride compared to Indus Toyota suspension. If I go lower than this then car wont be drivable in Pakistan as you know the road condition here.

nice lowering Rashid bhai..although not too much of difference from the pic posted by Adil..but still its lowered i think 1 inch and it will giv better handling especially around the speedy corners...how abt an anti-roll bar (6)

drive is stiff, you feel little bumps on road and it important to hold the 12" steering wheel tight because frt wheels can drag your steering if there is sudden slope sideways on road.

poppat turbo: its more stiff than lowered.

the springs will take some time to totally settle down (the sag factor)..say around a few more weeks cuz every car is different. generally...they will sag around 5mm or so more than what u see now....

the ride will continue to be harsh and stiff...cuz now there is less shock travel on the spring due to its lower height.

im getting my own set up within the next few days as well and cant wait now...will post pics soon.

it looks good overall....a well kept car and much loved also..haha

    Hello!
i think that won't show much difference as 17" almost covered that....u won't fell that from distance......
3-4" lowering and levin bhai gonna put 20" :p.........lolz
its enough for roads like we have in pakistan yaar.......
tooo much stiff and lowering robs all the pleasure of 4-Throttle drive in city + levin bhai gonna have to put some flesh after that like Fli :p......otherwise that damn suspension gonna break that downthings and some of drivers things :p......i think that enough and good...
by the way.....get rid of that CH sticker from back....place it somewhere on rear shield....that spoils the beauty...
and some moded bumpers and nice Sober Spoiler (like Baleno JXL got) gonna make that AE one of its own kind...i love the shape of AE-101..........Favourite of mine Rolla's in its gen.......The AE-90 and the AE-101.......

pour some mild hot water on it to make it wet...do this for like 5-10 minutes constantly...then use a hair dryer on it...the biatch will come off in a breeze :-)

    @ szuberi & SER_GTR:

If you are talking about a real drop, than it should be atleast 3-4 inch...! Just 1 inch...? I don't call it a drop...!

A stock Corolla can hold that drop (3-4") easily & with 17"s on, it can hold even more...!

well...theoritically....you can drop a car by 4" at most but then you run the risk of bottoming out when you drive.

that slammed look you are talking about is usually meant for shows and looks only. its not at all practical to drive on that low a height...

plus...if u go that low...your shocks (even the best aftermarket ones like Koni, Tokico, H&R) will blow eventually...the only exception being full damping coilovers.

been there done that.....seen many loosers here bottoming out and loosing their oil pans and exhaust piping...haha

this is true for all compact and sub compact category cars....
