Default XL1 1.3 Fuel Average vs GLI 1.6 Fuel Average

XLI 1.3 in City minimum (kmpl) = ? maximum =?
XLI 1.3 in Highway minimum (kmpl) ? maximum =?
    GLI 1.6 A/T in City minimum (kmpl) = ? maximum =?
    GLI 1.6 A/T in Highway minimum (kmpl) ? maximum = ?

It will give people a good overview when selectin between the two models .i.e is 1.6 Worth the extra amount

Sorry to say but that's impossible, there must be some problem with your calculation

I though the thread was supposed to be for serious people who have been driving around for the last 25-30 years. But i guess young people will little or no knowledge about driving or engines are the experts around here. If you go back a page someone was suggesting a method which would never be accurate (re-fillings at auto when the light comes on). So, that's that.

Actually there are people will different skills and of course different levels of knowledge. The best would be those with better knowledge, a lot of time for experiment, money & patience.

However, i would be more than happy if someone in Lahore wants a chit chat or even go for a test drive to get things cleared out.

Let's keep this simple- That someone was me.
Please, since you posses so much knowledge about cars and engines, let me and us, in-experienced and teenagers know why tank to tank using the Auto Stop feature is not accurate and if there is any other accurate methods to measure fuel efficiency, apart from looking at the digital gauge that displays km/l.

    And, please, also tell us everything about your car;
    Engine oil
    Air filter
    Tires and their air pressure
What RPM you change gear at
If any hyper miling is done and how you do it

    Regards,
A noob that also wants his Swift to give 25-28 km/l.

Since the petrol in the tank is moving all the time, the red light is most of the time inaccurate. Even if you park your car at an inclined angle you get different readings.

The best way is to fill a bottle and hook it up to the engine. Definitely the engine will die when the bottle gets empty. Ain't it?

So that's what i was telling you to fill up the tank to where it can take it no more. And of course when you fill again the same way the only difference would be the amount of used fuel.

It's a 2013 corolla xli with no tweaks and tricks-just factory specs.

The idea is to hold your horses all the time. Just give it enough fuel so that i maintains a steady speed i.e. in my case 80 on the highway for the last few years since im almost 50 now and a father of 2.

And im dead sure that if a novice like me gets 25-28 experts would be way ahead.

^Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for.
So, you basically divide the amount of liters filled with amount of km driven?
When do you change gears i.e at what RPM?

in 2012 i drove a relatives 2011 XLi 40k , around 2000 km whic inluded two trips on motorway , muree, nathiagali and islamabad and lahore city driving and i got an average of 13.33 km /ltrs, and it gave around 10-11 in city , these figures are with AC on 60 % of time. however i felt the car to be underpowered especially for highway driving and engine was way too noisy at 120 (3700 or so rpm) i was annoyed so much with the noise hat i drove around 100 on M2, so from comfort and design performance point of view i would recommend 1.6. after all only 1.3 is only available for Pakistan . and world over minimum engine is 1.6 is provided for corrolla , meaning the car is designed with that engine, putting 1.3 is just to trick us Pakistanis in to thinking that its 1.3 it would be more economical, but truth is in order to move the car at desired speed the 1.3 needs to work harder then 1.6 and consumes near about same fuel.

so my question is currently if am using cng of 8000 Rs per month in my se saloon what will be difference in money terms if i move to vitz or gli
It means u would be driving aprox 2100 km so if u drive this distance on 2009 gli it will use petrol worth 17600/- and on vitz, It wld use petrol of 14300/-
    P.s gli average 13kmpl and vitz 15kmpl

I simply feather the throttle to around 2000 rmp and shift up. And keep rmps steady around 2000-2100.

Definitely little things count but don't worry about wind direction and following someones tail etc. just concentrate on the throttle and rmp.

You're right its almost impossible to concentrate so much-- but that's what's it all about. The difference between MAN and a BOY.

I took this pic today morning before going to office for my fellow pakwheerler friends. Tank was filled from F10 Caltex, (55 liters ) it was completely empty. Milage is with A/C and within Islamabad. Tyre air pressure 28psi because of hot weather. Engine oil is Shell HX7.
I will try to touch 850 km but its hard because now a days i am facing a weird problem as some times my Car engine RPM arises on A/C for few seconds.

Do you idle your engine and get someone to push it from the back and get 25kmpl. Not possible.
I bet if you had a prius, you would say i refill my tank once a month...haha....

Yar i did this experiment many times, i only get maximum 17 to 18 if i put 5th gear and don't go beyond 80kmph on motorway. Otherwise whatever i do i can't get more than 14kmpl.
