Either way, since these car's ECUs are programmed for regular octane fuel, higher octane won't significantly change performance or mileage to a noticeable extent. I'm not saying that it doesn't matter at all, I'm saying that the performance difference isn't great.

brother the ECU remains in the retired state to compensate for the low grade fuel however it would automatically re adjust the air fuel ratio once it starts getting the updated ratings from its O2 sensors in the exhaust manifold. This is the understanding.

lets hope it actually works like that. once we are sure we are getting the new fuel, it would be even better if we hard reset the ecu once by disconnecting the -ve terminal for the battery for 5 minutes and in the next 48 hours new fuel will start showing its magic once ecu re calibrates all the settings .

According to my information the new grade fuel is GREEN in colour, and boards of almost all PSO's in lahore have changed but not the fuel yet. And it will not be of the same price...

If you got it filled at current rates, you've been misguided

PSO announced that the price would remain unchanged till the regulator notifies it, which is at the beginning of every month.

What I have mentioned about price remaining unchanged is also mentioned in the same article. I am unable to attach a screenshot somehow.

The engine and ECU both will have to be replaced.....

rather its better to sale it and upgrade to 1.6 Altis.

alteration wali cars ki resale nahi hotti.

engineering point of view say 1.6 ECU is required as their softwares are coded in a way that they cannot be updated.

GTRs and Supras or any modifier updates the ECU by installing customized tunned ECUs

very detailed reply. Thanks bro. Actually I am confused to buy 1.3gli or 1.6altis by keeping inview of their annual token tax. Both are 4 gear auto and I think gli is more affordable :-P

You are afraid of token tax?
Gli auto doesn't have a good acceleration.
It will give you 8-9km/l within city.
Transmission is 4 speed, but both of them are different from each other. Better buy Altis 1.6 instead of gli auto and save your money. Altis 1.6 has better resale than gli auto.
The amount of money you're gonna save to stay away from token will go into the petrol of gli auto.
Why buy a smaller engine car than?

I know smaller engine is not reponsive as i sold 1.8 cruisetronic 10 generation after driving 3 year but fuel problems is present in almost all corolla variants. So fuel is not an issue for me, i need less tax car also 1.6 has same speedo meter means interior of both gli and altis is same. If imc offers high quality upholstery in altis 1.6 than it will be my 1st choice. But thanks hasseb sb for guide lines

Go for Altis 1.6 as GLI Auto is underpowered. You'll not enjoy the ride especially after driving 1.8

I currently have 2016 1.8 cruisetronic cvti, and believe me fuel isn't an issue for this one. It's giving me same fuel economy within city as that of my 2010 gli which is 11-12km/l within city in summers and on motorway it gives me 16-17km/l at 120 cruise on and 18ishkm/l on highway at 100 cruise on.
Check above, brother bought new altis 1.8 6speed manual and it's giving 10.ish km/l in first 300kms.
You can move towards 1.8 Altis cvti cruisetronic as well. Believe me, I was at the same point. I was also buying gli auto.
Yes, I am non filer and giving big tax at the end of year like 24k, but I'm enjoying powerful car which have good fuel economy.

Some additional things for you in case of difference between Altis 1.8 and gli auto other than interior and engine and cvt.
There is a difference of abs unit (braking is better than gli), front suspension is complete independant mcpherson struts instead of semi independant, steering column is different.
Altis 1.6 abs unit is different, steering column is different, transmission is different; Moreover, you will get a choice of superwhite color with alloy rims worth 40k/each from dealership (yes, they are costly coz they are made by Enkei)
All upto you in the end.

Well, gli auto got acceleration worse than city; Moreover, 2nzfe engine was made for vitz or belta, but in Pakistan we are getting it in corolla. Body got more bigger and a bit more heavier than previous one, but don't know what Toyota was thinking. Gli auto is the one variant that they shouldn't be introducing. It's a good car for a lady driver, or if someone wants to give it to driver for pickndrop of kids (driver tameez say rehay ga) . You will hate corolla after driving this variant
