I would suggest either 1.6 Altis or if your entering the price bracket of 2.5M than go for Civic X vti oriel in the same money and get an aftermarket indash player and leather seats.

Yes, this is the options for me as well. We are about to change our ride. Options are Altis 1.6 or CIVIC X.

Check above, brother bought new altis 1.8 6speed manual and it's giving 10.ish km/l in first 300kms.
You can move towards 1.8 Altis cvti cruisetronic as well. Believe me, I was at the same point. I was also buying gli auto.
Yes, I am non filer and giving big tax at the end of year like 24k, but I'm enjoying powerful car which have good fuel economy.

Some additional things for you in case of difference between Altis 1.8 and gli auto other than interior and engine and cvt.
There is a difference of abs unit (braking is better than gli), front suspension is complete independant mcpherson struts instead of semi independant, steering column is different.
Altis 1.6 abs unit is different, steering column is different, transmission is different; Moreover, you will get a choice of superwhite color with alloy rims worth 40k/each from dealership (yes, they are costly coz they are made by Enkei)
All upto you in the end.

Gli auto doesn't have a good acceleration.
It will give you 8-9km/l within city.
Transmission is 4 speed, but both of them are different from each other. Better buy Altis 1.6 instead of gli auto and save your money. Altis 1.6 has better resale than gli auto.
The amount of money you're gonna save to stay away from token will go into the petrol of gli auto.
Why buy a smaller engine car than?

@autophile sir i cudnt find the post in which you posted WHT adjustment form. Does it apply to filers as well? Reason for asking is filers already get a concession at the time of purchase.

Yes it applies to filers basically so that they do not pay double tax. I mean the WHT is sort of advance income tax, so once govt takes it, it is from your total tax liability (If income from salary and single source in case of govt and pvt employees whose tax is deducted from salary at source). I got mine adjusted and now office will deduct less tax from salary till June 2017.

The fuel quality will get better with time. As they may have mixed the new fuel in the old tanker

I suppose a small review is in order

so i had just finished very first fuel tank with an average of 11.3 as per the car's trip computer. The car is very comfortable and the drive is really enjoyable I look for reasons to go out and have a drive .

The engine is suppose is the best part its has good enough low end torque to handle any city traffic requirement and good enough power to pick up good speed in no time further if driven reasonably well the engine gives respectable fuel economy and its good to know that power is available when required. as the vehicle is under 1000km and breakin period i just went uptill 120 twice and it was smooth stable and really quick.

as i had changed tires immediately to yokos cant say abt drive on eurostars.

Braking is sufficient and could be better
The six speed transmission is a charm the six gear is obviously for highway and maintains the speed its enagaged on thats usually above 70. Clutch is super smooth and effortless. however its engage travel is long and high and it takes some time getting use to.

another grey area is when u look under the car or nooks and crannies it feels like toyota did the assembly process in a bit of hurry, workmanship in undercoatings and sealent application leaves a lot to be desired.

overall the car is a real gem. the engine is perfect. i had driven a gli too for some 800kms but corolla is altogether another car with 1.8 engine which is no doubt the best bit of the car . its torque refinement, note , power and relative fuel efficincy is superb. I am really glad i increased my budget from Altis 1.6 to 1.8 Mt

as i had changed tires immediately to yokos cant say abt drive on eurostars.

Thanks for the detailed review. Good that you are enjoying the ride. Drive safe.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

I got mine adjusted and now office will deduct less tax from salary till June 2017.
