Totally agreed. Advan DB is old and especially overrated in our PW community .

I partially agree with what you've said, but not all smuggled tyres come like this. Most do, like the Michelin stock flooded in the market nowadays.

Plus its not only about the country of manufacture, it's also about the technology used in the manufacturing process and behind those are big brands with patents. Just because tyres from somewhere like Korea for e.g. are cheaper with respect to duties paid, doesn't mean the tyres are great. Similarly, if a big brand like Michelin sets up a factory in Korea and we import from there, it doesn't mean that the tyres will be bad just because they are imported from Korea.

Dark ones are discontinued. My Grande came with silver ones last week. The grey ones you saw were of earlier production dates.

No offence, but you are real short in that field.
There are official distrubutors of dunlops, yokohama, nankang and Bridgestone in Pak, and that's the truth, as far the rate you have mentioned some good 17 inch tyres cost 80-90$ in US while they start at 14k in Pak.
As far smuggled ones are concerned again we paki are lakeer k faqeer, jisnay jo baat kar di woh kar di uskay peechay lag gaye. Has anybody of you have seen a lot of smuggled tyres arriving in trucks?
The tyres that are inserted into each other are the used tyre, they are being sold at bilal ganj and railway station Lahore 3000pkr each.
New tyres when being smuggled comes separately without any harm to them. Every other car in Pakistan is running on same tyres. Using them from a decade. No issues even at speeds of 160
Using a smuggled 2015 dated continental contipremiumcontact5 in my car. No issues on that as well.
Also, somebody said here advan db is an old school tyre. New one like blueearth can't even survive 30k on paki roads.
You can choose pathetic brands like you mentioned but please don't suggest them to anyone.

Well said. As far as Yoko dB Vs. Yoko BluEarth goes, I've found both good. The former comes from agency and the latter is smuggled. Regardless, as long as the insides are fine it doesn't really matter. Just because dB is old doesn't mean its outdated, there is a reason its still being preferred by many.

It's not that old though. I fitted simple avs db in my car back in 2013 and advan was a oretty new tyre in the market at that time, but one thing avs db was the best tyre made by Yokohama. It was even better than contis.
