I think gli at when launched will eat sales of altis and even civic base model as people can get gorgeous shape and automatic transmission in lower engine which results in less reg cost and token tax

You people need to understand that Altis has its own customer base. Altis sales has nothimg to do with xli/gli. People who are going to buy altis are going to buy it anyway if xli/gli is available or not. Similarly, the ones who have a budget of xli/gli will never go for altis if the car is delayed for a month or more for that matter. How many of you plan to buy an altis if they dont launch it within a month or more?

Yes there is alot of difference in Xli/Gli and altis but how we can change the mentality of people, i am an onwer of 10th generation corolla top of the line and its giving me a loss of 3 lac.Believe me this so called altis Grande will have the same response as the last Generation one.Today even Sale manager told me 1.3 will sell like hell specially the Auto one.

No doubt that 1.3 liter variants will sell in great numbers, thats a fact. There would be no comparison between xli/gli and altis sales. As for as the mentality of people is concerned, I leave it to them which car they choose. Their money their choice. Be patient while selling ur altis, you may end up getting a good offer or reduction in us loss. I had a very cold response selling my xli on pakwheels and olx a few weeks ago. Sold to a dealer. It was in great condition with all the aftermarket goodies.

Went to Toyota showroom today. Delivery period of Altis has reached Octobet/November from just 30 days because of high number of bookings while XLi/GLi are expected to launch around 15th August according to them and 18th August according to the SMS service.

I have a little news for all of you guys. its a good one

There is a Case pending in the court against the Government regarding waving of the silly With Holding Tax, i have been told today there might be a situation that this notice gets cancelled and WHT crappy move could be thrown out of the window. I work for the government, cant tell where but its comming from a reliable source... bear in mind that there MIGHT be a possibility of voiding the earlier notice of WHT.

Xli and Gli M/T will be winners as always .. Xli bcoz of rent business and Gli M/T bcoz most ppl are not sure abt performance of 1.3 A/T and think it wud be underpowered and more fuel consuming.....some dealers i know hv told that they hv received more advance bookings of gli manual than gli auto

Doesnt make difference as long as booking of the vehicle and registeration is on same name.. If u dont pay WHT at time of booking then ull pay at time of registeration...

    mubeenshahid & fazalwahab11375,

Sorry brothers, I really do not mean to be a stickler about my point of the negativity of CVT and all that, so pardon my lenghty rebuttal.

However, you both are speaking of reviews of the US market and the world and all that, whereas I humbly speak merely of Pakistan. Or PKDM cars to be more precise

How many PKDM cars have you heard of with CVT since forever? I'll tell you; just one - and that'd be the steermatic Honday City. Any idea why there are no other examples of a local CVT scene?

Try this on: mantaining it sucks and repairing it is practically impossible. A full replacement is required if it gets spoiled in the wrong way, and CNG is not an option at all. OK, scratch the CNG part since it CNG is lame anyhow.

But seriously, look into why CVT isn't that popular with local manufacturing, and also about the issues faced with the few local products as well as the majority of those coming in from abroad, and my argument may make just a little more sense.

Especially considering that I'm not basing my bias on reviews

If not; well then, I guess we can just choose to disagree with no hard feelings.

    PS: Time will tell!!

Thousands of vitz , prius, premio and axio are running with CVTI without any problems.even my relative had a axio with cng and was working without any problem silky smooth
City steermatic was failed due to ignorance of Pakistani mechanics and cng mentality
