I dnt mean to offend anyone but the problem with us is we never fail to criticise.
Toyota has decided to move forward and introduce a newer technology and here we ate talking against it. But i can imagine if there was no cvt then we would be here criticising that same old transmission even in the top of the line version.

And yes my friend told me the new engine is very nice. 2ZRFE is smooth as well as has nice pick up and speed. The car is extremely comfortable according to his experience and is a very balanced one. From economy to performance all in all a nice package. Interior is a bit of disappointment but the new cluster is gorgeous. Seats are very nice as is the smooth drive in city.

Sorry brothers, I really do not mean to be a stickler about my point of the negativity of CVT and all that, so pardon my lenghty rebuttal.

However, you both are speaking of reviews of the US market and the world and all that, whereas I humbly speak merely of Pakistan. Or PKDM cars to be more precise

How many PKDM cars have you heard of with CVT since forever? I'll tell you; just one - and that'd be the steermatic Honday City. Any idea why there are no other examples of a local CVT scene?

Try this on: mantaining it sucks and repairing it is practically impossible. A full replacement is required if it gets spoiled in the wrong way, and CNG is not an option at all. OK, scratch the CNG part since it CNG is lame anyhow.

But seriously, look into why CVT isn't that popular with local manufacturing, and also about the issues faced with the few local products as well as the majority of those coming in from abroad, and my argument may make just a little more sense.

Especially considering that I'm not basing my bias on reviews

If not; well then, I guess we can just choose to disagree with no hard feelings.

    PS: Time will tell!!
I agree to it. Almost every 2nd vitz on road makes TUK TUK sound on acceleration. There is no such issue present in first generation vitz.
Three Axio's in my circle got their gearboxes changed costing 70-80k each this year. CVT transmission is very sensitive and cannot take beating as simple Automatic transmissions do. Sure it is good for fuel economy but what is the fun in pushing a cvt car when you can't even feel gear shift? To me simple Automatic transmission gives more power/torque feel as compared to CVT.

I have seen almost every 2004-2005 city also creating this TUK TUK sound on acceleration and gear failures on the other hand I have even seen 99 corollas and civics going strong on simple 4 speed AT transmission. Even my friend's 94 crown and according to him he has only changed gear oil once is going strong and no jerks on shifting.

    1.3 will run on cng
But its useless now as cng is not available spending 50-60k and with extra weight on car and running car on petrol is not a wise decision
As far as your question is concerned cng will work on 2nzfe as it use to be in previous generation.

Just visited show room on weekend and saw the Altis Grande. However, what is amazing is that the car worth Rs. 2.3 million does not even have mud flaps. Very strange.

Also gap between the wheel and wheel arch was too much, don't know the reason for that. How you guys find the new dash of the Corolla ?

Ever wondered why corollas are being used as taxis here in pakistan and all over the world? Because they are more reliable and tough than any other vehicle in this category. Now have u Ever seen a civic or city as a taxi? I havent. Thats not because its made for the so called status concious or elite class , but just because corollas have an edge over them when it comes to durability. Cars upti the level of rolls royce are being used as taxis, so stop complaining if u see a taxi next time with a corolla badge on it.

Xli has power side mirrors since 2008, If it has power windows where do you see the Gli then
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.
