Mohtaram @irfananwar Sahib,
Here are my points on insurance and immobiliser:
Just tell your point on insurance to the half of the Corolla owners who were unfortunate to have their cars stolen in Islamabad in the last 5 years because this piece of trash COWROLLA lacked the feature of an immobiliser. They will give you their plight in tears. Time and again, the immobiliser has proved a very effective deterrence against car-theft.
In the developed world it is mandatory by law for the manufacturers to have all their cars installed with an immobiliser to deter car-theft.
Adding insurance to a car installed with an immobilser beefs up the two tiers of deterrence against car-theft and by no means decreases the importance of having it (immobiliser) on the car in the first place.
Getting your car insured does not in any way relieves the manufacturer of its moral obligation of installing an immobiliser. It is the moral obligation of the manufacturer to add this piece of deterrence (immobiliser).
Here is another important piece of information for you. GLi and XLi are the most stolen cars in Pakistan just because of not having an immobiliser in the system. This problem could so easily have been solved by IMC through the installation of an immobiliser.
I feel and have reasons to believe that IMC is not installing an immobiliser on her cars by deceit so that more and more of their cars be stolen so that more and more could be sold by her (IMC) helping her do good business.
On your second question whether a manual transmission has paddle shifters or not:
Answer: A manual transmission does not have paddle shifters. In the true sense of the word, paddle shifters is in fact an automatic transmission and not a manual transmission because even if you do the gear shifts through paddle shifters, it is the automatic transmission doing the shifting and not you. An automatic transmission with paddle shifters through the paddle-shifting mode is not a manual transmission but still an automatic one. Basically the advanced computer systems in the car do the gear shifting through paddle shifters and not you whereas in a manual transmission you do the shifting no matter what for you have the stick in your hand and do the shifting yourself making you the king giving orders to the manual transmission directly to do the shifts. In an automatic transmission in the paddle shifting mode it is the car's onboard computers which perform the gear shifting and not you.
Conclusion: There are no paddle shifters in a car equipped with a manual gearbox.
Personally I prefer a manual transmission over an automatic one for it is more powerful and lets you have more control over the vehicle.
Regards.
