Its more so bcz of the new transmission. Cvt. Keep the rpm between 1800 -2200 and the average is great. All one has to do is keep a watch on the eco light while driving and specially while accelerating.
One thing though. If you are driving too slow even with eco indicator on, the average will be around 10ish.

Just booked my Altis 1.6L on 20th November in Bronze Mica. I requested them that I need both, the model and manufacture year to be 2015. And that is why I shall be getting it by the end of Jan 2015. I think it's a better option than 1.3 GLi Auto. I think 1.6L Euro II compliant Dual VVTi engine with catalytic converter versus simple 1.3L single VVTi engine is the reason, good enough, to pay 1.25K extra. Rest of the goodies like Alloy Rims, Navigation with reverse camera, High grade fabric which do not feature in 1.3L version are just bonus. And last but not the least the tag of "Altis".

Does anyone have any numbers about how many 11th generation Corollas have been stolen? Mind you, the new 2014 Indus Corolla lacks an immobiliser and therefore stealing it is a literal 'piece of cake'.

1.6 is currently being delivered on priority basis and also its year end so Premium would be very low i think...

1.6 altis has the best value for money, having the correct mix of options and power in given price. its worth a lac to upgrade over gli auto and worth a couple to save buying 1.8 cvti- but grande is in another league sunroof etc.
the main plus of 1.6 altis is : it sets you apart from the rent a car class i.e xli & gli. the other significant benefit is the cng compatibility which is not possible in 1.8 altis because of cvti gearbox increasing the running cost over 2 folds. however gli auto is also compatible but feels severely underpowered on cng and even on petrol. Try asking someone's experience of driving Gli auto to Monal.
Altis 1.6 has the same 1zr-fe dual vvti of last model Altis which runs like a charm on cng and no problems so far even after 98000kms on cng. Gli auto is fine to glide on plains of sindh and lower punjab but inclines and overtakes are not its taste even on petrol. My friend has one black gli auto on cng 2 months old almost in karachi here are the fuel consumption figures:
1.3 gli auto petrol- 15+ highway 11.5 city
gli auto on cng 60 tank- 145+ highway 105 city
    1.6 altis petrol- 16.5+ highway 10.5~10.8 city
    1.6 on cng 60 tank- 160+ highway 100+ city
Almost identical consumption but power difference is alot specially on cng. 84hp vs 124hp.
For a lac more its worth the upgrade having proper international version of engine used worldwide for corolla not some Pakistani jugard using a decade old 2nze.
