    yesterday i called Toyota GT motors Islamabad for booking of xli- 2015, and they told me that either book now for December delivery and 2014 model or xli booking will be opened in March 2015.......any authentic news

    There are considerable differences in Merc Variants and PKDM corolla variants which are scrap except Altis.

    My points are as under:

    1. Honda City and Honda Civic being offered by Atlas Honda are prime examples. City is lighter with a smaller body than a Civic's. 1.3 litre is quite a small engine for Civic's body. Just swap Civic's 1.8 litre engine for a City's 1.3 (put 1.3 into Civic) and drive the bigger Civic with 1.3 litre engine and you will immediately understand what I'm trying to say. You will feel that all power has evaporated. I hope now you understand what I mean. For a 1.3 litre Corolla, IMC should have gone for a different body shell just like Atlas Honda because you do need power for safety reasons.

    2. Coming to the analogy which you have come up with regarding various engines being put into the same body shell in a CL. The body of such cars is already being compensated by engines with ample power and the smallest engine in a respective body shell does not bestow loss of power upon them because it has already been compensated by a relative small baseline engine which is already powerful enough. I hope you get my point. For example, the smallest engine in a US Corolla is a 1.8 litre and if you keep putting bigger engines in the same body shell, 2.0 litre, 2.2 litre, 2.4 litre then you just increase the horsepowers of the engine. In any event the Corolla won't be underpowered. Coming particularly to a GLi/XLi 1.3 litre engine. In engineering terms, 1.3 litre engine should not go into such a big body. IMC should learn something from Atlas Honda: Go for a smaller body in 1.3 litre version or better still develop a newer more powerful turbo engine with a 1.3 litre tag. These are the engineering solutions to the problem.

    logically u r correct but different engines having same displacement have different response and performance.. i have drove new city and new Gli both and surprisingly Gli does not feel underpowered despite having much bigger body as compared to City...

    Bro Altis shell is heavier than Gli n Xli.. they look same but body is heavier of Altis.. close the doors of Altis n Gli. U will feel the difference. So Altis n Gli both are ok in their specific categories.
