^^^ There are two sides to the issue and greatly depends on how you look at it. One, yes, after paying that much of an amount and not getting a basic feature is obnoxious. Two, what's to come will come, anyway. If not theft, then car jacking. If not car jacking, then physical damage. I personally feel that there are some things over which you DO NOT have control of apart from life/death. Better is to offer Sadqa, have firm belief in your fate. Do you think nature's plan will fail if you got an immobilizer?

    @supereagle
Acting in self defence, countering the bad guy (who are mostly armed with TT/30-bore) is not an average Joe's cup of tea. It takes determination, intensive training and the capability to strike first specially while being seated in a defenceless posture where your slightest move will intimidate the bad guy to fire first. Things are different in reality as opposed to movies like Tokarev, Hitman, etc etc.
And sir, the 9mm is a potent calibre and being used by most of the armies around the world. That's a different discussion over which I could go on and on.

One of my friend claimed it for the steering, and sometimes i feel that too, but the road part puts me off to label the steering -- but again I will claim to my 3S to check it

Anyways: My old school friends and Me drove the rolla whole day today from noon till 6pm --- and its a comfortable car for the passengers only

Yes its not the car to have comfortable drive-- till now : I might start liking her later, but till now - If I have a friend around who can drive, I try to hand the key to him

    1. If one needs to cope with the rigorous terrain of the tribal area then one needs to get a 4 by 4 Jeep. A car is not meant to driven on rough terrain. Pakistani Honda or Toyota Corolla, for that matter, is designed, engineered and tested for roads.

    2. If one wants to steal a car fitted with an immobiliser, then the best way to do so is to play with the codes and not by installing one's own ECU. Both the jobs will take hours and time is not on the side of a car thief. He has to steal a car in less than 5 minutes. Fitting a Corolla with an immobiliser will slam that door on the car thief.

    Regards.
Respected @supereagle sir I am afraid you really missed the point. Well Toyota has always been a car lifters favourite because it can go to difficult tribal terrain from where it is used for different purposes. For parts, for sale on fake docs or sold in Afghanistan. It can go on dirt tracks, rocky roads and unpaved ways due to its sturdy build and high ground clearance. That is why it is stolen more.

Secondly it is 30 sec job to start the car on a spearate ECU in an immobiliser equipped car. If Corolla started coming with immobiliser then car jacking will increase. For parked scenario it takes just two three grips to go over new ECU and switch with coded key. Start and go in secs.

There is no doubut Corolla is theft prone so all the faint hearted freinds should stay away from it and buy other cars with immobiliser or little demand in the market.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

Sir jee aap car lock karna choor day, chori to hoe jaye ge so why bother locking. Immobiliser is the way to go and no they cannot change the ECU in 30seconds. There are 3 generation of immobilisers, best one is ecu cannot be changed if its wired in a certain way and programming the key takes several hrs.
Well if snatching will increase fine but at least you will be able to park it stay in peace.

Who said do not lock it? Well the point is that everyone knows that Corolla is thieves favourite, but deters only a few. Since Corolla sells more than all other local cars combined, its theft rate also seems high.

If it had been stolen at a great rate insurance companies would have stopped inusring Corollas. Have they?

I also want immobiliser in any car I own, but in Pakistani situation you all know how things go on. Our bureaucracy is the most corrupt and inefficient one in the world and pliant to corporate greed so assemblers, vendors, manufacturers, importers all have their own way and we the consumers are screwed big time in the end.

All cars assembled in Pakistan have faults. We can keep on crying or take the assemblers to consumers courts, but we do not have time or resources to take on such giants. Do we?

May be someday we have some insaan ka bacha at the helms who will reign in these corrupt enterprizes and save the people from plunder.

Why are you arguing on immobiliser then? If it comes with it so thats good no ? It will be targeted less international statistics show this.

Called Tracker World today for Navigation Card. They are offering SD Card Navigation for Rs. 3000 but it will only work in City or Civic and not in 1.6 Altis. It appears only option for Altis 1.6 is TPL Navigation card priced at around 10000. If someone do know any low cost navigation card for altis 1.6, please share.

Sorry, if i sound a bit off topic, in view of on going discussion.

Yes immobiliser would reduce thefts, but at the same it would result in increased incidents of car jacking of Corolla. No?
