And that is the fuel economy of Altis 1.6. I got 18.4 km/ltre on GT road from Islamabad to Wazirabad which is quite interesting for me.

    The details of journey are:
    Distance Travelled: Around 157.8 km
    AC: ON all the time
Fuel used: normal not Hi octane
Stops: one 10 min stop with engine and AC running
Average Speed: 70 to 80km/hr with breaks and passing city traffic with stock eurostar tyres

I can easily get above 19 or above 20km/ ltre if
    1. I use mixture of Hi octane and normal fuel
    2. I donot use 10 min stop with engine and AC running
    3. If i try to maintain average speed of 80 to 90km/hr
    4. If i use motor way and do not use hard breaking on traffic of passing cities.

I am trying to upload the pics as a proof but do not know how to do it with iphone plus using cell internet that is too with GPRS as no 3G coverage where i am right now but dont worry i will upload the screen shot soon

did you counted it through mileage meter or refill method ?
as most of the time consumption meter shows an estimate and is not 100 % true

Personally after paying tax on my salary income for 3 years and feeling discriminated (from business man lot) in term of tax changeability, i would gladly like to evade tax as much as possible (though impossible coz tax is with held at source by employer).

Some say Pakistan is among the countries where it is relatively easy to start up very small to small entrepreneurship due to 'other options' available for getting exemptions from various statutory requirements.
That's your thinking I cant say much about that, my dad runs his own IT business and he pays a hell lot more than 1000 Rs/month so I am not going to argue based on vague preconceived notions and countries all over the world including the biggest economies give massive tax cuts to corporations and businesses because good or bad it does foster growth creates employment etc.

Your taxes are a debt owed to the country you live in, you are not doing anyone a favor sir.

Dear all, Altis 1.6 is indeed getting popularity but still as per my observation, I see more GLI Autos than Altis 1.6s on the roads. Many respected members on PW also conveyed the reason why Altis 1.6 was launched a few months after the official launch of 11th generation Corolla, that was to accommodate the bulk order of more than 100 Corolla Altis 1.6s given by Motorway Police. I don't know how true is that.

    Correct me if im wrong.
i disagree with you when you say that Eco mode is always enabled. There is no such thing as Eco mode in the new Corolla. When you are driving the car and if the Eco lamp is on, it only means that you are driving economically and that's it. For example if you are driving in 5th gear on the motorway at a constant speed of 110kms/h, the Eco lamp will turn on just to let you know that your driving economically. There is no Eco mode in corolla like in the Civic.

same corolla Eco lamp feature is available in the Honda City Aspire. It turns on when you are driving at a reasonable speed in higher gears and turns off immediately when you press the paddle indicating you are now NOT driving economically.

    hope this clarifies.

Alright guys time to bust the so-called "under-powered" blind baseless theories related to 1.3 GLi AT.

Finally took the car to Monal today, 4 occupants on board and half tank of fuel, covered half the distance in full AC and afterwards kept switching it on and off according to the incline.

Not even ONCE it felt like the car was giving up or struggling to its bits, went quite smooth all the way despite the fact that I was stuck behind some slowpokes because of whom I occasionally had to brake in-between an incline.

The car went very smoothly even through the toughest curves where normally cars have to struggle to climb, I must say I am impressed and now can even take this car to Northern Areas In Shaa Allah.

The Michelins have certainly improved the handling and grip otherwise before the tires changed I didn't even think of taking it up there on the crappy EuroStars.

I was just being careful otherwise I take my Prius all the way up with AC on all the time. This was the blacky's maiden journey to Monal so was just taking some precautions.

Bro then its obviously Michelins ka Kamaal...Otherwise if on Eurostars you were hesitating to go up there then this surely can be true that your car performed really well on Monal coz of those Michelins which have much better traction than normal and conventional tyres!!!

Please give your views on what I have stated!!!

So I still believe that this car is under powered and it will always struggle to perform on mountains due to that less horsepower and huge body!!!

These tires are pretty much grippy compared to the EuroStars, but they do not add to the horsepower! I was hesitant on the old tires because I never liked or trusted Euros that's why didn't take it there otherwise I saw several GLi/GLi AT with the stock tires going perfectly fine.
If you want to stick to the "under-powered" thing that's your choice but for family purpose this car is perfectly good.
Plus these Michelins are the stock size that is 195/65/15.
