I believe it to be a Garmin Nuvi. Specifically the 255W.

    Dear Pakwheelers,

I am relatively a new registered member here in Pakwheels however I am an avid follower of all relevant threads in pakwheels forums whenever my new ride was due (2006 & 2009). By the grace of almighty Allah, I have booked 11 generation corolla Altis 1.6 in attitude black color in May 2015. Delivery is due this month End or early September. As a car enthusiast, I also have some questions regarding upgrade and other related matters for which I require my pakwheels brothers to help me with their valuable comments. So here are few questions on which I require guidance.

1.From where should I opt for insurance, I have past reasonable experiences with Chartis (AIG). I have asked couple of insurance companies to give quotations however most of them are saying tracker is mandatory requirement, I don?t feel like having tracker on my brand new car as I have witnessed what tracker mechanics do with your new car. My preference reasonable premium with good services.

2.New corolla are coming with Eurostar tyres, in all my previous new cars I have changed the stock tyres to yokohama but during that time stock tyres were General and believe me they were pathetic. Need opinion about Eurostar, should I continue with Eurostar or replace it. What is the best yokohama tyre these days, some says blue earth and C drive? what is the cost and how much my eurostar will go if I replace it with yoko.

3.How is the stock infotainment system of Altis, I am thinking of replacing it with Grande infotainment system which is android based, any idea abt the cost / replacement?

4.I don?t like the black front grill, I want to replace it with chrome grill. Some says rather replacing the whole grill there is option of chrome strips, any idea about the price of whole grill and chrome strips?

5.Which is a best Fog lamp for corolla, head Depo is the best, valuable opinions / comments will be appreciated.

6.Can anyone explain difference between glass coating Vs Ceramic Pro 9H. which one is the best and is it worth it.
    1. Cant tell you about insurance coz got my car insured from efu by my employer on corporate rate.

    2. Euro stars have mixed reviews by users. My personal experience is only for about 50 kms and during this 50 km i found them noisy and a bit bumpy as compared to Michelin energy XM2. made in taiwan or england doesnt matter coz no one can prove to you which one is smuggled or imported through lawful means. In my opinion, changing tyres is in any case a wise decision coz you get a relatively less noisy, better grip and reliable tire for a difference of just 14 to 16 k.

please note that you dont get more than 12k for euro stars after they have been used for a couple of hundred kms. Its best to replace them in unused condition.

    3. Stock infotainment system of altis 1.6 is OK for a not so keen sound quality user. sound quality is acceptable. touch screen is not so responsive. you cant play any video format other than avi. reverse cam has grains at night. Moreover, 7 inch screen just feels tiny on a huge dashboard, though everyone has own liking. grande infotainment will cost you 70k from dealership. as far as 1.6 system is concerned dont know how much of that they will adjust in cost. (probably will be in 10 to 15k range)

    4. Chrome stripes cost from 1k to 3k in rawalpindi. Quality is good for 10 to 12 months use depending on how much you wash your car and how much you park your car in direct sunlight (told by shopkeeper). As stripes are pasted using double tape theft of stripes is an all time risk. Cost of chrome grill is 3.5k low quality to 20k from IMC.

    5. Best quality fog lamps are of grande if you have budget. Hugely impressive build quality and great light glow. next option is koito fogs (see corolla hornet thread for fog options). I personally have honda accord projectors with denso ballast and imported swift d2s hids in place of fogs on my black corolla.

    6. Costing is in my opinion not of much use unless you are a detailing enthusiast. promised life of coating is 2 years but we have much much more dusty environment in pakistan. coating wont last more than a a few months. Costing gives a superb shine for a couple of months but cost against a shine of just a few months is simply economically unjustified. It is better to use acceptable quality wax with microfiber, avoid dry dusting of black paint and never ever get your black car washed at service station. wash it yourself with a good quality soft wash mitt and car shampoo.

    Congratulations on your new ride.
I would suggest you to monitor this issue as well. I guess it needs firmware upgrade.

Due to cloudy weather of Karachi and dont know when it may rain. Better keep it Parked.

One more thing Karachi car to keep it clean and shiny very difficult, the sea breeze takes all the shine and covers the body-shine with dust quickly.

@autophile and other izloo/pindi/Lahore members --- No doubt your cars will have better lasting shine then Karachi Cars.

Use a quick detailer after waxing. Will attract less dust.
