Last highway trip's fuel consumption of my Gli. Tank was topped up before starting the journey. Approximately 270kms trip (30-40 kms in city as well) with 2 crazy traffic jams encountered in Isb/Rwp (45-60 mins of total traffic jam with A/C). 4 adults on board. Driven with moderate to heavy foot. Luggage was loaded on one side of the journey. A/C; turned off few times when it felt too cold and sometimes while going up hill otherwise it was turned on most of the time.
Consumption of slightly more than a quarter tank is pretty decent imo.
Islamabad to mianwali and back. next day islamabad to deraghzai khan. Deraghazi khan to multan and multan to mirpur mathelo. Trunk loaded and 3 people aboard GLI AT. Got 14.5 Km/l. much satisfied with average. but GLI at lets you down on two way jhang multan and muzafargarh dg khan road while overtaking. Miss my 1.6 GLi manual 1995 for overtaking.

This is the issue of balancing. Get it done from Toyota 3S. Outside shops' machines calibration is generally out.

I have Michelin xm2 tyres with manufacturers specifications (195/15) they have been balanced (got it done during installation)
Could the issue be the alignment of the tyres? Or something else? The steering wasn't pulling to any direction which is why I am doubtful about the alignment.
    Any help would be appreciated

Before this one I had 9th generation Gli, it was hardly used, When I sold it.. It was running on Dunlop sp 702.. Never felt like the way I feel in Advan.. May be they were hard compound tyres..
You are right, I have hard earned money that is the sole reason, which is holding me back..
Looks like, I have to stick to these for the time being..
i have michelin energy xm2 on my gli at, gets extremely smooth with 2 - 3 people seated on kachi roads...

The charm of manual transmission while downshifting for overtaking/acceleration is simply matchless!
This was one of the main reasons for selecting Gli M/T over A/T.

The convenience of relaxing your left foot, and hand, without being worried for getting the engine stopped because of not matching with the clutch-accelerator, and clutch-brake balance, is also priceless

drove 1.3 GLi MT although better than A/T but nowhere near 4AFE manual transmission 1995 1.6 GLi in terms of pick. On the other hand on oneway N5, M2,M3 and M4 relaxed driving of automatic is charm.

Usually, at the time of installation, they offer free balancing and its just useless. It looks like they deliberately keep non calibrated machines for free offer.

1.8 Mt is the real deal.
Anyways, according to Pakistani roads and traffic auto is the obvious choice.

Though it's still a personal preference.

Actually 3S dealerships are bound to keep their machines/ tools updated and calibrated since company teams visit/ monitor them on periodic/ regular basis for inspection. Therefore their results are better than private and cheap workshops.

How would you rate the Pirellis as compared to Euro Stars?

It's always a relative term my friend, majority of cars in Pakistan are below 1300cc or 1300cc. Fun doesn't necessarily mean going 0-100 in 5 secs or so. Some get fun from their 800cc cars as well. Some get fun from 3000cc turbo charged engine and find 1800cc sluggish. All sedans offered here are family sedans be it 1300cc or 1800cc.

Perilli is the best of all the tires I have used yet ..
That includes yoko advan db as well
Anything is better then Euro stars .. I drove eurostars for first 1100 kms and then decided to let go of them while they still have some worth :-)
