Default 11th Generation Toyota Corolla Pakistan

I am in a bit of fix, I want to buy an automatic corolla, after considering three variants ie the 1.3gli, altis1.6 and cruisetronic1.8 I decided that the ideal one would be altis1.6, the issue is that I am upgrading from a 1.6a/t variant of the the 10th gen corolla. If i get the altis1.6 would i be getting the same thing all over again?
    What do you guys suggest?

    Go for 1.8 cvti.
You will get the same thing as you were previously using

Depends on your taste. But it is quite good. I'm enjoying it. Just make sure that u play 128 or 320 kbps songs for best results.
One more thing, sound quality will be a bit lower when u play 4m mobile via Bluetooth. If u play the same song via flash drive or cd, you'll experience better overall quality and bass.

Yes, you would be getting the same engine plus transmission again. Try upgrading to 1.8 auto variants.

That's why the best option to buy is to chose between Altis 1.8 trims
Assalamualikum Brother. The ABS Unit of 1.3 GLi is different from the unit in the Altis 1.6 and Altis 1.8 Units, but the 1.6 and 1.8 both carry the same ABS units. The disc sizes for 1.3, 1.6 and 1.8 are same or different, that i cannot confirm at the moment as i have no measurements of the 1.3 disc unit. The ABS units varied since the 2007-8 Altis 1.8. About the rack and pinion, all variants are same and carry the same EPS steering system. Only the altis 1.8 gets the front suspension which carries the "independent type macpherson strut" and the rest get "macpherson dependent type" front suspension and "torsion beam" rear suspension is the same in all corolla variants.

And yes ofcourse the 1.8 with CVTi will be the best choice if you can afford it. Then follows the 1.6 and finally the 1.3 varients.

    Jazakallah.

    Bro,
I have seen rack and pinion of both variants. Both are different in the looks.
As far the mcpherson struts are concerned all the variants have independant mcpherson struts.
How can a mcpherson strut can be dependant? :-/

Assalamulaikum Brother. As per your query, the simplest answer to you would be this :

If Upgrading to a 1.8 Varient, "Yes" the upgrade would be feasible as you get a smoother CVTi transmission and possibly better mileage and braking car due to bigger brake calipers and better (so called ABS) and you get a reliable car (Stability is questionable at high speeds due the the higher rear clearance and hunchback suspension if driven to the limits in all variants).

If upgrading to a 1.6 Varient from a non Altis varient (old 1.6 GLI or 1.6 Altis Non SR) "No", as you get the same car with a different heavier body with nearly the same goodies and nothing new. Even the mileage is lesser. The brake calipers are larger but the braking is not that different than the previous model. I would not suggest this upgrade unless ofcourse you change your cars with the shape changes or years or mileage, etc. Jazakallah.

Assalamualikum. Brother if you have seen the rack and pinion steering system, I wont argue cause I am no specialist nor mechanic nor guru nor any mechanical engineer, but the working people at toyota parts at defence showroom karachi and mechanics there said this cause some person there wanted his grande steering replaced for some reason while i was getting my cars 5000km service done (Cost Saving Strategy Perhaps, and the steerings have the same feel and pressure sensitivity, and on paper same parts as per official records). As for the Suspension System ... I am referring to the manual/booklet/specification sheet of the car. Again to clarify the car (1.8 variants) does have an independent front suspension as per the official specifications, and the rest have dependent front suspensions on paper as per official records and claims. I wont argue on the macpherson struts being dependent or independent. Peace Out. Just clarifying, not targeting or arguing. All i am referring to are the technical specs and records. (I stand corrected, if I am wrong none the less, as I am only quoting the official specs.) Jazakallah.

    Wa alaikam salam

They lied about mcpherson strut, because a car with dependant suspension at the front can be sent to a museum. Also, If you go under any gli you will come to know my point. Dependant suspensions are connected just like the rear ones Of corolla, but indepandant aren't. Also, it's pretty difficult to do the alignment of dependant suspensions.
Yes, I agree with you cost saving strategy.
They gonna install rack and pinion of Gli in Grande. It won't effect, but in a long term it will cause problems

I hope that mileage of current gen 1.6 is improved over 1.6 offered in last gen, due to SFI and less aerodynamic drag!

Not likely, SFI is to improve the response time of the engine rather then fuel economy, the engine still has the same old direct injection system as before, but now the car weighs more then the previous one. Aerodynamic shape wont help much in city, and due to the raised back of the car it might only be pulling a bigger vacuum behind it when moving thus further hindering fuel economy. On motorway, my last car did 14.5-15.5kmpl and m hearing the same for the new model.
