I mean with all the rumours of facelift? Bro i'm getting so curious because I have saving money for ages to buy the car of my choice. And I don't want my car to get older right after 2,3 months after I get my car.

Grande and 1.6 demand had picked up for last two three months. Dealer said that they were expecting less bookings after Civic launch, but surprisingly they are experiencing very high sales and demand is greater than ever before.

Due to many reasons, but one of the important reasons were the 'value for money's aspect of the Grande. Civic was always a notch higher than Corolla, due to the better quality and craftsmanship, but this time the price difference is not worth it.(no hard feelings)

Guys everyone in my family/friends circle is saying that you should get a 1.3 Corolla GLi Auto(on road price 20 lac) instead of a 1.8 Altis CVTi(on road price 24 lac) because of the reasons:

    1. 1.8 will have poor fuel consumption as compared to 1.3
    2. Maintenance of 1.8 is quite higher in comparison to 1.3
    3. Token tax/year of 1.8 is higher.
    4. Body to same he donon cars ki then why not buy the one with lower price..

I personally want to buy 1.8 Altis.

Anyone got time for analysis on the above four points? Thanks in advance.

Sorry but totally wrong in my opinion, the 1.3 has a much poor consumption in Automatic transmission. The car is underpowered and most of the owners of 1.3 Auto I know are not satisfied.

The fact is: 1.3 Auto has to overwork to pull the weight and that results in high rpm, higher rpms mean more fuel. If at all you want to save then get a 1.6 Altis.

The savings on 1.3 Auto are not worth it.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Please also throw some light on the routine maintenance cost (oil, air filter, oil filter, spark plugs, etc.) comparisons between 1.8 and 1.3.

Maintenance should be roughly the same for both cars, but 1.8 has better mileage for sure.

Body is the same but it's all about the goodies. It's for you, and you only. Logon ko thori dikhani hai. If you have to give the car to the driver for intercity travelling, then gli is fine. But if you want to enjoy the drive along with these awesome goodies, then go for it.
1.8 Cvt has a driver air, which I think is a must in today's driving conditions.

Of Altis grande and Gli is different. And you get two airbags too.
Moreover body of both cars is not same.

You can try slamming door of Gli
And then grande. And you will feel door of grande is heavier because it has additional re inforcement inside door and body.

I own a grande and have compared with gli.

Consumption of 1.8 cvti is more than 1.3 automatic.

    Also,

    Headlights are also different
Front suspension of all corolla's do have mcpherson struts, but Altis 1.8s comes with stabilizers as well.
    Brake rotors are also different.

If you can buy the 1.8 cvti. Don't get the 1.3 auto if you can afford the 1.8.

I have a 1.3 auto and yes it is underpowered, but I don't expect much from a 1.3 litre engine. As for the fuel economy, for me the economy hasn't dropped below 10 and the total average I am getting is 11.

Thanks a lot guys for the detailed comments.

I am going for Bronze Mica. Any good or bad reviews on this? Any other colour that you people would recommend? Does it fade easily if the car is kept in sunlight for longer durations?

1.3 is under powered, it's a misconception that 1.8 average will be low, it's equal if not better than 1.3, bigger the engine the less efforts it takes to achieve and maintain speed thus less fuel consumption
