XLi Limited edition is available for sale. No specs on IMC website yet, but dealers say it has 1.8 type LCD and rear view camera and available in all GLi colours. Guess they are clearing now 1.8 LCD to replace with a newer unit?

Built to spec but with a very low grade filter paper. Never compromise on filters and oils, they should be genuine.

    @autophile,

Dont keep hopes high, XLI LE has been in production every last quater since 2006.

Initially with extra colors, and some features like matching door handles etc.
Their was a Gli LE with ALTIS METER and Wooden trims in 2010-2011 aswell.

Although their are chances of phasing out Xli for Vios but not as yet, Since IMC is in planning for launching next generation of Hilux and Fortuner
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

Existing 1.8 LCD is already different (the one launched with immobilizer and climate control) - the panel area houses the immobilizer unit and the older 1.8 system couldn't be used - thus the launch of XLI LE.

Around 60-62% of corolla is locally manufactured - things like the plastic parts, rubber parts, the doors, etc. These are manufactured by local vendors selected by IMC and some parts are pressed by IMC itself.

Performance parts are imported - like the engine, transmission, etc. 1.3 transmission is locally assembled.

All parts are then assembled on the IMC line.

Even Hilux and Fortuner is locally assembled.

AOA Fellows, wanted to share my experience regarding opting the engine oil for your cars.

some members claimed that boiling or flash point of all 5w-30 is also 230 Celcius so higher temperatures dont matter to minerals or synthetics or 5w-30 is as protective as 5w-40 or 5w-50.

let me clarify that's not the case.

race cars use atleast 5w-60 oils. why?? because they actually operate on a higher strains on the engine components and operating temp is higher. the actual measure of weights in the oils is viscosity index at a specific temp.

usually road cars operate at 100 degree celcius so if you see that the viscosity index of higher viscosity 50 weight oils is better at 100 degree celcius as compared to 40 or 30 or for that matter 20 weight oils.

viscosity index is actually the ability of the oil to stick to metal parts at operating temperature ( in simple words) of the engine. so 5w-50 is more protective. i hope i have clarified this.

now when we talk about mineral and synthetic oils the main difference is that synthetics maintain their specific properties over longer interval where as mineral based oils usually loose their properties sooner.

now if we are using 10-30 mineral it would be fine. no issues at all if you follow the maintenance routine religiously.

opting for mineral 10-30 would mean lower operating costs and thats the advantage. however if you intend to run the car optimally for lets say 300K KMs than safer approach would be to opt for synthetic 5w-50 specially if u have a heavy foot and u floor the car frequently.

now opting for imported synthetics is still safer like shell grey box ultra 5w-40, liqui moly 5w-40, i personally use micking max premium 5w-50 (in my vitz), mobil 5w-50 or petronas 5w-50 and would IA opt for taglon 5w-50 from toyota dealership for corolla when the change interval is reached.

have not heard good review about kixx oils however its a hear say thing so they might be good too or total 7000 /9000.

so opt intelligently. drive safe. happy crusing.

Received my jack knife casing for Corolla KEY. I got the blank key made and door lock/unlock buttons placed in New casing. But the car didn't start...

Brought the OEM key which I carefully observed, had no chips in it or circuit connector whatsoever but still upon using, the engine STARTED.....

    Made a video....

Didn't give up, I saw this small portion in the casing of jack knife, it had compartment for a sensor or chip something.... Checked Google and YouTube and came to know that this is where one should put IMMOBILIZER chip and ignition will wirelessly detect it...

It was a difficult thing to do but I had to make a sacrifice by cutting the 3rd spare key and pulling out the small chip...

All 4 speed automatic transmissions currently in use by Toyota (Pakistan) are form the A3xx series. "A" =Asin, or more appropriately Asin-warner.

From what i can recall the Corolla and Hilux (Pakistan) both use this 4 speed auto transmission which is now nearly 16 years old.

All international variants (Corolla) that employ 4 speed auto also use this 'ancient' transmission.

FWIW the CVT is also manufactured by Asin (K series)

Yeah, both Scotty Kilmer and Eric (the car guy) are all praises for Toyota transmissions especially the former. Though eric has worked most of his life on Hondas, he has more praise for toyota auto tx as compared to hondas. I think he said that the Honda is too compact and heats up quicker as compared to the toyota. Remember this is about the traditional auto, not CVT

Also Honda's auto tx follows a different arrangement that the planetary gears in other autos; i think they did not want to pay royalties for the patent.

I have owned an Altis 1.6 2015 myself for a year and I know the seating arrangement very well. Grande has the rear reclining seats on top of that, a great feature for the comfort of my family and friends
