The reverse camera on our grande seems to have died. All I get is a black and white picture which is all garbled; it is impossible to figure out anything on it. Tried several times during daytime and at night, still the same. The marking lines appear normal though. The car is under warranty.

    1. Has this happened to anyone else?

2.Should i go to my dealer or call tecnopak (the number is on the android unit's owner's guide)

3.I have already removed the sound proofing and checked all the connectors. They seem to be fine. Fiddling with them does not improve things at all.

    4. I am (nearly) sure it is the camera as the unit itself performs fine. Also is it worth getting an after market camera to improve the image quality as the one that comes with the car is very bad. And if so, which one. Ali express has several units ranging from $12 to $30. Any suggestions would be welcome

    Thank you

A good quality reverse camera will cost you around 1500-2000 with labour. So, better go with aftermarket one instead of getting it from a dealership at a high rate.

Your camera has died cz of water entering the lens. Although they are water proof but some units have ths manufacturing defect where water proofing doesnt work and over the time cameras stop working . As someone said , get an aftermarket one which is cheap and effective.

Thank you both. Yeah I am pretty certain this is what has happened. The question is which unit to get. Locally I get prices from as low as 1350 to as high as 3000. They all look the same and there are no spec sheets. If anyone has any experience I would be very obliged.

I have never heard of a 3k price tag camera. 1500 is the price range to look for . Just get the one similar to your current camera.

First of all do nothing and show the car to 3S dealer. If cam is under warranty they will replace it for free.

I do plan on doing it, but the camera generally performs very poorly under low light, thus i am more interested in replacing it with a better unit

Thought the new Civic would kill the sales of Grande, but since the launch Grande demand has picked up and now availability is up to three months instead of 30 days.

Totally agree with you, but Sir price difference bhi substantial hai, so i guess if CIVIC X is out of someone's buying range or if they think it's overpriced, then Grande is a very good car for 24 lacs.

if its orignal cam i think it should be replaceable in warranty. check with your dealership first.

otherwise u can get IR enabled very good quality cam for around 2500 (specifically that comes in corolla fitting).

Exact the same discussion with some dealerships and they said the exact same thing, whatever drive quality and assembling issues kept aside the price has given them more then expected orders yet again. They also say now Grande has a 100K edge over Oriel which they can easily play around with if they like to.

Price is on higher side, plus customs will jump in to charge up to 10-15 over 23,000, 24,000 car part. These are locally available from 10,000 rupees at all good accessories, decoration shops near your area.
