Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

I bought it from a guy on Pakwheels. He is in lahore and if you want I can inquire him if he has one available. Also if you have someone living in US and he is heading to pakistan you can ask him to bring one for you from us.

About torque app if you buy from the guy in lahore the CD has that software but if it does not work I will email you the link.

    1. The finish and overall build quality of the car (Altis Variants) is average.

    A) Outside:
Like there is this notorious "Back Light Alignment issue" with almost every other car.
My car's paint work is quite good, but the front bumper spacing (right-side) has not been properly taken care of. Its not something really big, but i think it should be perfect
But for the GLi/XLi variants, people do check your car's paint work before receiving it. Many cars have quite poor paint job, mostly bumpers/door handles(color mismatch). At least this is what i observed in few cars at Toyota Capital Motors in my recent visit.

    B) Inside:
It feels some of the dashboard fittings were assembled in a hurry though, they are not perfectly aligned (Talking about the dashboard side facing the doors, from front everything looks perfect.
No noise is coming from my interior and trust me i am driving this car on pretty bad roads these days.
Thank god, there is no "Sunroof molding issue" in my car.
The trunk and fuel door release labels are just stickers, which are going to fade away pretty quick.

    Now these are my observations:

    2. The front and back doors are large and easy to open/close, so this eases up the entering/exiting process.
    3. The acceleration is rapid with quick burst of power once you floor it.
    4. The extraordinary thing about this 2 ZR-FE engine is its torque range; you can accelerate it swiftly at any given speed.
    5. The Clutch is light and gear engagement is smooth.
    6. The brakes are solid and they provide a reassuring feel.
    7. The leather wrapped steering wheel is a treat to touch, accessible because of its tilt and telescoping feature (Gives a good feedback).
    8. The steering gets stiff with increasing the speed, and on slower speeds its light as a feather.(EPS works well)
    9. Sound quality of the Infotainment system is above average with adequate bass, for a normal person.
    10. The Moonroof/sunroof gives the Cabin Space an airier feeling.
    11. There are quite many spaces where you can keep your gadgets while driving.
    12. The side mirrors are wide enough to help the driver's visibility.
    13. The Navigation module is quite accurate and fast(It takes hardly 5 sec to locate the position no matter its Day/Night/Cloudy or Raining)
I have to mention here that i am not using any internet to facilitate the Navigation Module. (Nav Software "SYGIC")
    14. The rear seats are comfortable and supportive and there is no issue of leg space/headspace. The rear seats are comfortable enough, even if they are not reclined completely.
    15. When sitting in the cabin the outward visibility is quite good from front and on the sides, but the backside visibility is a major issue!! (Thank god they are giving rear view camera)
    16. Road noise and cabin noise are considerably less than the previous generations. Because of the good insulation, you feel quite comfortable whether you are stuck in a huge traffic or cruising down the highway.

For the review regarding Infotainment System, please go through the earlier posts. Thanks.

Yar, i don't know if the cabin is quieter than Civic's or not. But i can safely say that this time they have used better insulation materials. Plus, i think its the first time they have properly insulated the wheel wells and all four doors.

wrongggg , very wrong selection of tyres .. so much rubber ..... ... bhai height kam rakhni thi ... if you want to opt for wider tyre , height should be less ... in 195-65/15 ... profile .. height is 65% of 195 and if you are using 205 or 215 width then it height should be 55 or 45 ,,, mannnn .. truck needs that much of rubber ... .. just a suggestion

Hahaha.., Thank you. Dude, at first you scared the sh#t out of me with "wrongggg, very wrong selection of tyres", untill i read your whole statement. You are absolutely right about the tire height, but i couldn't find fresh Yokohamas in Islamabad (Blue area) having 55/60. All were from 2013. So this is the main reason i selected 205-65/R15.

Yar, these alloys costed me 50K. Lenso Project D-Spec D.
    Made in Thailand.

Chinese/Taiwanese rims in the same size 15" are for 35K max.

Thanks, yar after doing some research i found out this place. "London Tyres", right behind D. Watson Chemist (Blue area). He is a reasonable man with good reputation. Plus, the owner of Wheels & Wheels (Blue area) spoke highly of him.
