Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

The scanner got connected with my smartphone (Android) instantly but i was unable to pair it with the Infotainment System, for some unknown reason. Still trying to sort it out.

There was no lag at all when the real-time data was being displayed on the phone. The image below is a mirrored image of my phone on the Infotainment System (But there was a considerable lag)

Nice adopter how much you paid for it. Does the torque app gets installed on the infotainment system. I doubt that it will work properly since your device is on android 2. And torque is I think supposed to run on Android 4.0

I am amazed at the results shown. Engine idling at 650 rpm amazing and engine vacuum in excess of 22 inches. This car would be fun to drive.

Please also share your car fuel flow per minute figures on idle. Honda city ivtec has flow of 6 ml/minute on idle with ac off

Thank you. I got it for 1500. Yes it gets installed easily but what i think is that the Bluetooth Transceiver of the Infotainment System is a bit outdated. The Info Sys usually detects a device only after it has been paired (From Other Device Side). As this ELM Scanner has no interface so one cannot pair it with the Info Sys, that is why ELM Scanner does not show up in Bluetooth Scanning. I tired couple of Bluetooth Managers, they get installed but the Info Sys hangs up while scanning.

It is fun, for sure. I will check that and post it here.

Check what OS is the infotainment system running. That might be a reason.

It is an Android, Version 2.3.7. The Bluetooth connection works well with phone/tablet (I tried it). But for some reason, it is not detecting the ELM 327 scanner.

I can second Hasan on acceleration part... it is really good despite the fact toyota has a huge body... and so much torque that is noticeable even at 2000rpm.. simply brilliant!

Yesterday I went to Toyota Capital Motors for my first check up (1000Km).

Toyota capital's maintenance crew conducted the following tests:

    1) Interior:
All 6 speakers do not rattle at high volumes
Air Conditioning and Heating is working properly. (Cleaned the cabin filter )
Door locks are secure (Child Lock functionality)
Seats and the Headrests are normal (Checked every adjustable position)
The steering wheel is perfectly centered
Map Lights/Vanity Lamps and Centre Dome lights working properly.
Multi-Info Display working properly (Checked all Warning Functions)
Stiffness of Parking Brake (Hand Brake)
Power windows operate normally (From Driver?s side and then individually)
Power windows operate from master switch and all door switches

    2) Engine Bay:
Checked the Engine Oil and Air Filter
Then inspected the engine and components for any fluid leakage (Engine Vibration as well)
Engine Bay underlining is attached properly
    Hood latch is functioning properly.

    3) Exterior:
Checked the remote entry system/trunk opener.
Inspected the discs and the brake calipers (Not thoroughly)
    Trunk latch is functioning properly.
Then, they checked the frame of the car/ body-surface and alignment of the panels.
Afterwards inspected the lower body for any damage
    Checked the exhaust system
Inspected the windshield wipers and rain sensor.

Finally checked the Transmission and Clutch execution.

Afterwards, they gave my car a "Clean Bill of Health". Haha..,

So I'm guessing you'll eventually go for seat covers and not bare seats?

Dear OP, I'm afraid I will have to agree on this one. The overall look, lines of the body is petite. A spider web or this kind of design does not go along well. Get bold spoke rims.

I really appreciate your suggestion but i am not a big fan of spoke rims. As far as the design goes, i think they suit the car well. Plus its almost impossible to perfectly match the car's flow-line with the alloys.

If you need Enkei 16s contact me. I've got them with original michellin tyres.

Here a small correction if you go for 205/55 then Rim size MUST be R16

Experience is good so far, I am enjoying the drive. The drive is smooth and silent. I am thinking whether to go for a body kit or not. Its in bronze mica and I am not sure if the body kit will look okay on it. Any suggestions?

The bad part is someone while cleaning or intentionally have put a few scratches on my car bonnet. They are deep enough, not taken off the paint but they are still there. I have tried using scratch out on them but they are still there. Not sure how to get rid of them.
