Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

The bad part is someone while cleaning or intentionally have put a few scratches on my car bonnet. They are deep enough, not taken off the paint but they are still there. I have tried using scratch out on them but they are still there. Not sure how to get rid of them.
Janab, its good to read about your wonderful experience. About the body kit, I don't recommend it. As i have seen quite many Corollas (Medium Silver, Super White) having these body kits. Sadly, all of them have the color mismatch issue. But, if you feel like getting one, its your call.

This is really bad, try to get some information regarding this from Senior Members. I am sure someone will help you get rid of them.
    Insha Allah. !

If someone did this intentionally (very common occurrence these days), i can only pray for the betterment of his mental health. These rotten souls should join some rehabilitation center, ASAP.

If it was unintentional, then i suggest you should wash your car yourself (I wash mine almost every week). Don't even take it to the Service Stations. Those people are highly un-professional as they use the same cloth for everything. It's better to drive a dirty car then to get it scratched from these jerks.

I was checking this comparison on youtube from Autoguide 2014 US. It was between Civic 2014 and Corolla 2014. And winner was ... Corolla 2014 due to better fuel economy, leg room (front and rear passenger), road noise, smoother tranny. Check this out...

    Dear hasan.Danish,

I have bought Gli 2014 and am looking for some dealer who has the infotainment system of Grande being sold separately. The 3S dealers are selling it at a very high price so I want to try my luck and reach the supplier.

Can you please share brand name of the infotainment system? Also, the user manual would have contact details of the authorized dealer in Pakistan.

    Appreciate your help pls.

Congratulations buddy. Yes, you are right these dealers are asking a lot for the Info-Sys. There is no brand mentioned on the device itself. But from the Service Manual i was able to extract the following information.

    Model Name: RR-HI 8001
    Customer Care Email: services@tecnopack.com.pk
    Tel Number: 021-34301101-7

You can check aliexpress.com, there are lots of android based systems in there ranging from 350-500 dollars. They are not the same as Grande, all are Chinese made btw.

CONGRATULATIONS on the car and enjoy it! Drive safe and long!

Before I say anything, we only have Toyotas in house...

This trunk alignment issue was present in Toyota Altis 2013 model of a cousin. He was not the first owner though. Once he took the car to Toyota Capital, they refused to fix it in "Warranty". I think he should have taken a stern position with them esp. since they were asking him questions like "Did you have an accident?/Did you bump it with something from the rear?"

He then took it to some local 'dentar-wala', who fixed it by a hammer..... no nuts adjustment could correct the issue according to the denter.

I have not checked the topic completely whether it has been fixed or not but if it has not been fixed then make sure you do it through Toyota and take a stern position about it if they start making excuses. Write to high management/even Toyota Japan about the issue if they do not solve it.

Trunk issue can be resolved in 15 minutes with hydraulic jack. Just a gentle push and trunk is aligned with the lid and lights. Toyotas have very soft rear.
Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

Yes, this will be a cost effective solution. One more thing, try to buy some casing as well which will be used to mount that android tablet in the dashboard. I am sure there will be some sort of assembly available online. Else, it wont be of any use.

    Thank you.

Yes, you are right this trunk alignment issue has plagued the last two Generations of Corolla. When i was getting my Car from the showroom, the manager himself admitted this thing. Plus all 2014 Corollas that were present that day, had this problem. Anyhow, what i have noticed is that the my right light was not properly aligned. At first, when i used to open/close my trunk the process was not smooth. But with the passage of time/repeated use it has become a lot better, so is the alignment. Still, there is a difference but its almost negligible now. When i went for my for my First Check-up, the mechanic suggested to use the notorious "hammer" technique to align the trunk lever. But i refused.

Experts would not use hammer but a hydraulic shaft till the point that the trunk lid falls in place itself and locked
