Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

Find any reputable denter nearby who has hydraulic jack because he will know where pressure is required. Long time a City hit me from behind and broke the bumper clip, I went for fixing it in Melody and the mech said that rear lights were not aligned as the impact pressed the rear a bit. He brought a hydraulic jack and without any hammer aligned the lights and trunk lid very smoothly and quickly.

Manual Transmission, if you want to get the most out of your every driving session. While driving a manual transmission, the feeling that you get when you perfectly execute a gear shift is priceless and this brings a smile on your face every time. Moreover, Its cheaper to repair and provides better fuel efficiency.

Auto Transmission, if you just want to drive your car from point A to B in a hassle-free manner (if your daily run has a lot of traffic signals). Though this particular model has Paddle Shifters, but then again you will be using them seldomly.

    1. Acceleration is superb and as far as the drive pleasure is concerned, this 11 Generation Corolla is definitely in Honda's territory now. At times i have to see my instrument panel to check the RPM for up/down shifting a gear, as there is negligible engine sound inside the cabin.

    2. Yes, Altis comes with a 6-speaker sound system. Technically, 4-speakers and 2-tweeters. Sound is really good. I don't feel like changing these speakers any time soon.

Actually, my first cousin got a CVTi Grande the same time i got my Manual one. I have driven his car once, the CVTi transmission is way more better and smoother than your regular Prosmatec Transmission. Yar, from what i have experienced, that car stays in the Eco Zone even if you floor it hard due to the 7 gears, meaning it will be economical as well. Moreover, the up/down gear shifting is seamless !!

@hasan.danish, i was wondering if you have thought about installing the cruise control in ur car? Any idea what one would require to make it work in manual grande? I dont think it will be much of a problem to install it in manual transmission as everything is same except the transmission.

Nae yar, i don't go for long trips very often. May be once in a year or so. Plus my daily run is around 20Kms involving busy roads. So this is the reason i never felt the absence of this feature. I am sorry, i have no clue about it but i saw there is a provision for it on the steering wheel.

Hassan bro. Thanks for sharing the contact info from user manual. Though I have got it installed from a 3S dealer with discount through a contact.

On 3G connectivity, I am very confused. I have reviewed dongle details on mobilink and telenor websites. Both supply 3G dongles with an autorun installer for windows operating system.

I think there has to be a trick for android infotainment to detect it. Appreciate if someone can share the trick, if you have already tried a 3G dongle.
