Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

I think more people are now going for more features than the bland Xli or Gli. The difference is also now 4-5 lakh, but the pleasure and luxry is manifold. However, it does not mean Xli-Gli will sell less as they cater to 1.3 segment. Grande may have added features in future including immobilizer etc.

The legend leads. Corolla again top best seller in Pakistan, even more than Mehran. The September figures will come early October and must be much higher.

My friend, the "Toyota Corolla" brand is synonymous with reliability and efficiency and some 40+ Million owners seem to agree with my statement (Sales Figure: July, 2013). My love affair with this little work-horse began in late 1980s (Dad's 3rd Generation Corolla) and the passion is still going strong. There onwards, we have kept every generation of corolla, except the 10th Generation.

Very true. I also wish they start giving immobilizers soon, as this is the only thing missing.

Sir, today i connected that EVO Usb stick with my Info-Sys. The system did not even recognize it as a Usb device.

    1. So, one possible solution is to root this Info-Sys and then install PPP Widget from Playstore. Afterwards, you can use the internet. (Not Recommended)

    2. It is better to get EVO WiFi cloud or the EVO CharJi device. (Recommended/Tested)

I replaced my Evo with Evo Wingle (wif-fi) for just 1,500 rs. Problem solved.

No I did not do it. But seeing the screenshots of info sys wi-fi settings, I see no reason it should not run Internet.

If you want to test, I can give you my Wingle

Thank you. Actually, i tried both Evo Wingle and Evo WiFi Wingle with the Info-Sys but no luck. According to my limited knowledge these two run on the same principle, more or less. The Evo WiFi Wingle is just capable of broadcasting the internet via a WiFi Access Point. Both of these devices require a physical medium (USB Interface) to connect to the internet first. One more reason behind this connectivity issue is that both of these devices require a pre-configured (Setup) software which has only been developed for Windows/Mac only.

On the contrary, Evo WiFi cloud and CharJi don't need any setup software and are connected wirelessly (No physical medium required) to the PTCL's Internet Service. Plus these two can also broadcast Internet via a WiFi access point (5-devices can connect simultaneously)

Sir I use normal Evo Wingle as Wi-fi hotspot and it connects all (5) adnriod and windows devices. If I hook it to my LinkSys router than it can serve to unlimited number of devices over wi-fi.

No software is required for Evo Wingle wifi. I use it with my power bank also. The requirement to connect with USB is just to power it up.

I even power it with a USB on a television or on an FM modulator and it becomes wi-fi hotspot. It does not require to connect via any device.
