Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

Guys, you need to relax and calm down.
@wrangler: you should stop spoiling his thread. He is trying to share his happiness with us while you come up fighting him for not buying Honda Civic. Every human has his own taste. Trust me; I have always been a Honda user. But this time I have churned to Toyota Corolla Altis Grande. Reason is very simple: Suspension.

I went to Jhang last month with my Honda Civic VTI Oriel Prosematic (2014) and had to face some rough road as you know, even good roads in Pakistan are torn in the name of new projects to eat money by our crook politicians. When I came back to Islamabad, I could hear many different noises coming from my dashboard and back shock absorbers. That pissed me off. I drove the car carefully at 10-20km/h in bad road condition to save my car, while other Corollas where flying on that roads. I would see corollas driving at 80-100km/h at that road. That impressed me.

Whether you like it or not, technology isn?t always the priority. Durability matters a lot. Especially in a country like Pakistan. By the way, does Honda civic have paddle shift? Corolla also lacks climate control. So please stop of the Honda/Toyota war. These are two different brothers with their own two different personalities.

7th n 8th gen both were uncomfortable bumpy and hard
This new 9th gen is much better not as good as corolla but nice
    Even for bad roads
Once i had to cross a similar patch and i had to reach somewhere in emergency
I went at 100 plus on that road
Tyres make a big difference my friend
Which tyres are you using ?

I'm not fool enough not to understand that tires play a big part in comfort and durability of suspension! I have always used: Yoko advan DB. Even that day, my car was fitted with those tires. Only higher profile! The main point is: why make such a crap? Why wouldn't they focus more on quality that flashy stuff. The only good point I see in Honda Civic is immobile. Else corolla would have killed it's market since....

Civic is like iphone even samsung phones are better than apple's but when you see iphone in some one's hand first thing comes in your mind will pe (paessaa) where as samsung has all the phones with same shape.
Same is the case with corolla even grande looks are same as xli.
But civic is only one in its premium shape and its mostly used by sophisticated owners not like corolla xli or gli being used in taxis.
But if we compare both corolla takes the lead bcx roads all over in pak is main problem where you can see corolla's flying and civic citys swift jdms moving like turtle

This means War. C'mon guys relax. Both cars cut corners when offered here in our country in terms of basic safety and other features. It's all about personal preference. Civic is not superior to Corolla and vice versa.

If civic offers all these its price is more than grande.
Grande is made for local paki drivers which do not even know about abs cvti padle shifters criuse control etc
Have you seen the latest price tag lists? or did u assume that a civic will cost more than the corolla?

    @OP
im not a fan of the 11th gen corolla. However, saw a white grande 2 days ago here. The owner had lowered it (to an extent that any normal road car would be) and had a lip extension body kit on it. Looked miles better than a stock 11th gen gli standing next to it.

otherwise congrats on the new car.

    Thank you.

Yar, i am thinking on the same lines but i will just get it lowered. As far as the body-kit goes i do not like them. But thanks again for your suggestion.

What is mileage (local) and highway. How do you rate the stability and braking in comparison to 10gen corolla?

P.S. I am amazed by few (rather alot) irrelevant comments and discussion in this otherwise good thread.

P.S. I am amazed by few (rather alot) irrelevant comments and discussion in this otherwise good thread.
Sir, i am getting 11.1Km/L right now (Within City with AC on 80% of the time). So far, I have not been able to take it for a long drive and my daily run is around 18 Kms with multiple traffic signals.

In my opinion, both stability and braking have been improved considerably when compared with the outgoing model.

Since you and I both share the same home town i will give you a complete answer. Haha..,

As far as the mileage is a concern, i am sure it will give a lot better mileage on a Highway. I am saying it because i have driven it twice to Wah Cantt (approx 100Km round way by GT Road) and each time the average was increased by 0.2Km/L.

My cousin bought a Grande CVTi the same time i bought my Manual one. He daily commutes to Islamabad from Wah Cantt and right now his car is giving him 11.8Km/L (With a really heavy foot). I have uploaded the mileage figures in the above posts. So, there you go and i hope you got your answer.
