Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

    Assalam O Alaikum,

Its been years that I have not written on the forum, however, the need warranted that I seek help from the brothers here on the forum. Before anyone assumes anything, I have been riding a Honda for the past two years and from the past several months, I have been on the new Oriel Prosmatic Civic.......things have changed :-)

Alhamdolillah I have received my 1.8 CVTi Altis Grande` two days ago in Medium Silver in Lahore. I have practically spent Kashmir day reading through the thread and some very valuable info has been gathered. Jazak Allah for the valuable thread.

Now I am replacing the tyres and rims (hopefully) today. I am opting for 205/60/15 size, based on the size calculator its the nearest match to default size. Lenso & another Taiwan brand is my options. Any advise on brand of tyre or anything related to it?

Plus, I have found my infotainment system to work perfectly so far, my iphone is connecting with bluetooth and the Sygic navigation is also working fine, have not searched for any address as of yet. hence, any inputs on that system?

Lastly, I have an Evo Wingle 3G that I would want to connect with it, anyone has any inputs on that?

    Jazak Allah.

Congratulations for the new ride. Drive well and drive safe. Well you just have to plug in the Evo into some USB port on the player of if cables are provided in the glove compartment there or you will have to buy a cigratte lighter USB charger and insert wingle there. Now go to the wifi set up of your infotainment there you will see your Wingle. Give the password and get connected to Internet.

205/55 is a better profile ... fat tyre and a small rim looks awkward ... dont use the truck tyre profile

Any genuine (not fake) oil in recommended grade range would be fine

I was talking about the unity lock or american lock it is inserted in the steering cross near the floor of the car. But you have to be very careful and remove the lock before putting the key in the switch because if steering is turned hard with lock still in cross, it may damage the steering cross. The steering cross can be replaced under 1,000 rupees from open market but Toyota will charge hell as they will replace the entire cross assembly.

The thieves will not be easily able to cut the lock if it is of good quality and the car will be saved. At first it looks a little odd but within few days one can do it very smoothly.

The cross is damaged if you rotate the steering forcibly while the lock is still in the cross.

No, I haven't been able to locate the Sim Slot yet.

So i asked about this from a guy at the GT dealership. He told me there is no such sim slot in the Infotainment System. One can only plug in a 3G/4G capable internet usb.
