Default 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis Grande

    Salam members,

Let me introduce you to my new car. After six months of waiting i booked this car at Toyota Capital Motors Islamabad on 18th July, 2014. Initially they gave me an approximate delivery date of second week of August but i got a call from them just 3 days before Eid that my car was here. My Salute to them !!

Of course it was not an easy decision as i had to choose between Honda Civic VTi Oriel MT (2,253,000 PKR) and this Toyota Corolla Altis Grande MT(2,149,000 PKR). As both car makers have a longstanding reputation for delivering reliable and fuel-effcient family sedans. But finally i opted for this particular variant as it offers the best value for money and for the following reasons:

1.8 Altis Grande comes with the standard features like: Bucket Leather Seats (Softex Material), 8" Android based LCD with Navigation and Rear View Camera and Reclining back seats. Moreover, this relatively new Engine 2 ZR-FE is more responsive and fuel efficient as it comes equipped with SFi (Sequential Fuel Injection) and ACIS (Acoustic Controlled Induction System).

Today i went to Toyota GT Motors for the 5000Km Service. I went to GT Motors instead of Capital Motors because they did not have the Engine Oil i was looking for. Anyhow, the staff and technicians at GT Motors are equally good and professional.

    They performed the following things.
    1. Engine Oil + Oil Filter(Changed)
    2. Brake Pads(Cleaned)
    3. Battery Fluid(Topped)
    4. Spark Plugs(Cleaned)
    5. Air Filter(Cleaned)

    Assalam O Alaikum Danish.

The oil says "For gasoline & Diesel" which makes it a generic oil for both types of engines. Did you check with Toyota if this makes sense? I have my Grande due for 5000KM, and I am just concerned with the basic review and maintenance they do at 5K.

Any change you felt after the oil change? any difference of milage?

    Wasalam,

Yes, you are right it is a generic oil. But, then again you have to choose between this one "10w30" or Petron "20w50" (If you want to keep your warranty coverage). So i opted for this as it is being made by Toyota themselves.

Both pickup and mileage were improved after the oil change.

SN grade oil is best. Don't worry this oil not do any harm, but enhance engine life.

Such a stupid technician he was. This system has a properly registered IMEI number which is impossible unless you can install a GSM sim card in the unit.

Looks like I will have to open it up.

    Hahaha. Exactly.

Yes, this is the only option left now. As in most of the tablets the sim slot is on the sides. But in our case, the geniuses at IMC have covered them up with that glossy moulding.

I have openedn it once sometime back. Its not like a tablet. Its same as a one DIN cd unit installed in a metal case. The LCD touchscreen is attached to it via cables and its an integral part of the front face plate panel.

Didn't get the chance to explore the installed one DIN unit yet but will do soon.

Default grande fuel average within city

Hi guys.... I just read about some friend saying grande average stuck at 11km/ltr. Well my grande odo is 3000k and I am getting average between 13.8 - 14.1 km/ltr.... I never had this average with my previous gli. My daily drive is nearly 80 kms and I haven't changed the oil yet..... if u drive it a Lil light on initial acceleration the average improves a lot. There is no fun if cvt gear box with SFI cab only be as fuel hungry as conventional automatic transmission..... I will post pics of my odo which says average of 15.1 at the moment.... but that includes one trip on motorway...... on motor way it gave me average of 15.7 with speed of 120 and half the time cruise control was on..... I am very happy with cvt. ....
